After two hours, the pills were already well on their way into your system...transit time from the stomach usually only takes 20 minutes to an hour. You only threw up your stomach contents...absorption actually takes place in the small bowel...the pills were long gone by then. You'll be fine.

Might I make a suggestion? For full efficiency, make sure you take your pills at the same time every day...like maybe during your morning routine...

Pills typically take 20 mins to digest, not 2 hours. I would say your ok.

As long as you take them regularly you should be good for a full 24 hours even if you miss a pill. according to the labeling if you miss a pill and remember to take it with the pill the next day you are still protected. If its longer than that you aren't.

your friend is correct. dont worry, just remember to take your next pill at the correct time. good luck!

you should be fine. the pill digests pretty quickly. but for the next couple of days i'd use a backup method such as condoms just to be safe. but im pretty positive you're fine.

I would say that you're ok since pills usually digest in 20 minutes, but to be safe, I would use a backup method for the next day or two.

It should have already passed through your bloodstream.

just take another one i case

You should be OK. Continue to take your pill as scheduled. If you want to be extra careful, then use another form of protection for 7 days.

Best of luck.

im pretty sure it only takes about 20 minutes for medication to be absorbed by your body. you'll be fine.

You're fine. They were probably already gone from your stomach way before you threw up thanks to the alcohol helping to dissolve them. Usually, it would be 2-3 hours to be safest, but listen...there's a website for young women where you can get the best answers about all these kinds of things and it's much more reliable than Y/A. Here is their actual answer to your specific question:

Sarah replies:

Your pills should be fully effective beginning at the start of your new pack. Typically, problems with pills only affect that particular cycle (unless the problem itself carries over into the next pack). So as long as you don't have any problems during your next cycle, you should be well protected.

Generally, if you throw up less than 2-3 hours after taking a pill, you should assume that the pill may not have made it into your system. So if you threw up 20 minutes after taking your pill, then you would count that as a missed pill on Wednesday. Thursday's pill would probably be called "late" rather than missed. If you had been relying on your pill to protect you (which you probably would not have been doing anyway since this was your first pack and you usually want to wait one full pack before relying on it), then it would have been wise to consider your protection compromised. But in this case, since you used a condom without problems, you were still protected by that method.

Especially if pregnancy is absolutely not an option for you, a good rule of thumb is to backup or abstain for the rest of any cycle where you have had illness that caused you to vomit or to have missed (or late) pills. It's better to backup anytime you have any doubt or question than to have worries later.

You said you have taken your pills regularly so I would say your fine.

You should be ok but If you are that worried call the pharmacy and they can tell you over the phone . If you really wanna be a worry wort use a rubber for the next couple of days .

your fine like everyone has said, it only takes about 20-30 minutes for the pill to be digested through your body.. so by 1130 your okay :)

You're probably alright since you've been taking them regularly. I wouldn't worry about it. There is an old wives tale circulating that alcohol decreases the effectiveness of the pill. This is only true when vomiting occurs shortly after the pill is consumed, I think 2 and half hours was enough time for the pill to be dissolved, digested, and absorbed.

My question: what the heck are you doing drinking so much that you're throwing up by 11:30?!? Knock if off... that's just gross.
