Answers: My sister is a doc and she has been taking anti depressants for ages.

Yes there are, apparently there are a number of side effects to consider.

she should no then a?

yes there is a problem its called addiction

I have a friend and co-worker who has taken Lexapro for 2 years. Now she's addicted to it. Terrible side effects, causing her to miss work. And the withdrawl from it is worse.

There are side effects associated with just about any medication. A problem for your sister, not necessarily for you, would be that some medicines lose their effectiveness after time and the patient has to go through "trial and error" with new medications to get satisfactory results. Since she is a doctor, I'm sure that the benefits of the medicine outweigh any side effects and/or being depressed. I found the following web page helpful: http://www.consumerreports.org/health/fr...

yes, because the point of the meds was to help you overcome the prob.. but you shoud have only been taking it temporarily! the best thing to do when you are depressed would be for you to talk to someone to clear you head a little and then see how you feel. and I know you spoke to someone before you were given the meds. but try it again!

Anti depressants very addictive and therefore very difficult to come of. Seroxat has now been banned in the UK for under 18yr olds as it is thought to give suicidal tendencies. Counselling and or relaxation techniques can work just as well with anxiety, stress and sleeping problems. Might be that your sister needs professional help she would not be the first doctor to get hooked, so talk to her.
