Could you describe the side effects (in detail) that you experienced from birth !

Question: I'm not looking for a list of them, i know the potential side effects! I'm looking for a personal account of what your experiences were.
If you were nauseas, was it right after you took a pill? When during a months pack did you experience it? How long did it take to go away?
What about cramping or spotting? How often and how bad?
Did you get mood swings? How often and when did they go away?
I appreciate any information you can give me. It would help if you mentioned what pill you took also. Thanks!!!

I have been on different pills and found different side-effects with each of them. Headaches and mood swings mostly. Headaches usually subside with time, but my doctor said if you have severe migraines with tunnel vision you need to stop.
Also if you get very down it's best to see the doctor as you may benefit from a different pill with slightly different hormone balances.
I have been on ones that have sent me a bit crazy with moodswings and yet they do nothing to friends.
Often it's a case of trial and error and you shouldn't be afraid to chop and change if need be, so you can get the right contraceptive pill.

the pill greatly improved my mood swings, and made my mood swings around my period a LOT better. I only spot if I miss two or more pills in a row, which I dont do.
I gained a little weight, but it was in my boobs and my butt so I didn't complain. my acne cleared up. and I knew the exact day of my period, which ends after about four days.

could be a lot different for you though.

I've been taking birth control since I was 15 (i'm 21 now), and currently i've been on Ortho-Tri Cyclen, and I absolutely love it!

When I first took it, I had to come off it for awhile, because the first couple of days I was nauseated and throwing up constantly (depending what brand it is, some have pretty strong levels of estrogen and whatnot). I stopped for a month, started taking them again, and finally my body became used to it. For all the time i've been on it, never had spotting, and my cramping actually lessened over the years (when I do get my period, it's just a dull hurt). I haven't gotten any mood swings, and the most dramatic effect (and best part!) of the pill was that it did make me lose a bit of weight.

it varies from person to person pretty much. but my side effects were weight gain/weight loss(some days i would have increased appetite, the others i wouldnt.) sometimes i would get minor mood swings, but before my period. and i had no cramps and lighter periods. i think the pill is a great option for lighter periods (:
