How can I get my 15yo sister on birth control?!

Question: Recently my 15yo sister told me she's having sex. After talking to her about the consequences and all the other stuff she agreed that she wanted to get put on BC.
Is there a way I can get her on BC without parental consent?
Since we are trying to keep it from my mom, is there any BC that she can take that is not something she has to remember to take everyday, like the pill?
Does she have to do a pelvic exam before she gets placed on BC?

Contact your local health department or Planned Parenthood. They operate on a sliding fee scale, so she would only have to pay what she can afford (most likely nothing if she is unemployed). They usually do a pelvic exam before prescribing birth control just to make sure she is healthy. She really needs to have one done yearly now that she is sexually active any way. They will be able to determine the best type of birth control for her situation, and they usually have free condoms available too ( I hope she takes advantage of them).

The Planned Parenthood website can show you the nearest health center. Just follow this link: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/

Yeah you can go to clinics that are free and she can get up to 3 months each time she visits, they do it all without saying anything to parents and things like that. just google teen birth control clinics in your area and there should be some that show up.

Most birth control pills can only be obtained by prescription and since your sister is a minor she won't be able to get one from your doctor without parental consent.

Make an appointment with Planned Parenthood. They can outline some options that your sister could take, and maybe even help her out in practicing safe sex.

If you're in the UK she can get prescribed the pill via her GP or if she wants through a GUM clinic. They will treat her confidentially and wont tell the parents. They might do an examination if she's every had unprotected sex to check for STIs

There's a lot of BC without having to remember the pill. She can have an implant which lasts for 3 years, or injections every 3 months. She should discuss the pros and cons with the health adviser and decide which she thinks would be best for her.

Yes she will have to have a pelvic exam in most cases...I believe Planned parenthood is giving BC out now with out exams but I am not sure if it is for Pills only, there is a patch that is changed once a week and there is a shot (De-pro). If you are 18 or older I believe you can take her to a local planned parenthood or clinic and get her BC, while your there pick up some free condoms for her.

ok.....
I would suggest the nuvaring. That is what im on. It works great. Ask the doctor about it. Also, you do unfortunately have to get the exam. maybe try planned parenthood?

there are free clinic where u dont need parental consent...and yes u will have to have a pelvic exam prior to being placed on the pills.

The best thing she can do is to make sure her b/f uses a condom all of the time. Although this not 100% effective its as good as she cando without taking the pill. Another sugesstion is for her to engage in other forms of sex such as oral or anal where she can't get pregnant. The safest thing she can do is to engage in mutual masturbation with her b/f.

Yes, if you have a Planned Parenthood or any other teen clinic (ie a County Health Clinic) near where you live she can get it. There's all kinds of BC methods she can get on, Also when my lil sister told me I tried to help her and warn her too she didn't listen to me and just had her lil girl 2 weeks ago but she also contracted Chlamydia along with HPV (aka Genital Warts)!!! There's a new shot that helps you become immune to the HPV virus and it's in a sequence of I think 6 (I took it and tried to get my lil sister too) you should request that too for her and as for the Pelvic exam most likely yeah but it's good because once you become sexually active you should get a Pelvic exam and a PAP Smear annually!!

Get her to a Planned Parenthood clinic. That's how I first started getting my birth control pills. They do a socio-economic study on you to see how much you can pay and you buy them there every month. I was already an adult but I understand you don't need parental consent to go there. Yes they will give her a pelvic exam. Also I think they will offer her various methods but I'm not sure (it's been a while) if they offer anything like the implants or the DIU

Geez JEM, this is a terrible development...I hope everything turns out to be alright. Last thing anyone needs is her to get pregnant. If I ever have a kid....(IF, lol)....that kid will be a virgin till 30!!!! lol
