What would i say to my doctor?!

Question: i recently posted a question asking if i had symptoms of Anorexia, and the response was that it sounds like i could have it. A friend offered to go the doctors with me, but im unsure as to whether i would need a parent or what to say, could someone please help? and, how would they know if i am actually anorexic? im 15.

You can go to the GP confidentially, even if you're under 16, and you only need a parent there if you feel you need their support. The doctor has probably dealt with many cases of eating disorders before, the simplest thing is to come right out with it. Sit down and say to him/her, 'I think I may have an eating disorder, and I want to sort it out.' He or she will ask you about symptoms, feelings, and perhaps other questions - but remember that you never have to answer anything you don't want to. He may refer you to a specialist, or perhaps a psychologist. But it's great that you're not in denial and are ready to get yourself in a better frame of mind. Brace your fears and go for it! Good luck.

you could just ask your parent to get you a check-up or physical and then causally ask the question because moms and dads understand that teenage girls are self-concience about things like that.
