I started using tampons at the age of 14. At first I didn't know how to put it in, but after I figured out the diagrams each time became more effortless. People use them at all different times. There are three kinds, light, regular, and heavy so that you can use them at any time during your period. They are very convenient for people who are active and do not want to be restricted by the bulk of a pad. The only way you can go swimming when you are on your period is with a tampon, otherwise, the water will turn red (and that's just plain disgusting).
CAUTION: If you haven't used tampons before and are thinking about it, there are some things you should know:
1. Tampons are associated with Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS), a serious but uncommon bacterial infection. The higher absorbency tampon you use, the more likely you are to contract TSS. (But don't be scared by it, it is rare).
2. Tampons cause heavier cramps. Because the tampon is blocking the blood from coming out, clotted blood may not be able to come out, causing more discomfort (sorry for being so graphic).

my whole period until the last day when its super light then i use panty liners cause i dont want to risk getting an infection from using a tampon when its not needed.
I used them when I was 13 years old, it sucked.. I stood with a pad and I still use a pad. I'm happy with pads :)
yeah i use tampons. doesn't have to be just for swimming or for heavy flow. they have all differnt kinds you can buy. they are alot more comfortable than pads. i have always used them.
No, I don't. I like pads they feel more comfortable for me.
It's all I use, pads make me feel dirty all the time and I am also uncomfortable because it feels like it's going to "spill" and stain my jeans. Just change them frequently and use a size appropriate to your flow.

yes, but if it's really heavy you could wear tampons with pads. Also they have them for different flows.

I use tampons a lot because it's a lot easier at night with them in. Then, you don't get any yucky stains.
I started using them when I was 13....I never use pads, unless I'm forced to for some reason. I just couldn't stand it.
i stuck to pads.......... easier to change........ no pulling of and string involved!!!!! ^-^
I have used them for over ten years now, I got my period when I was 11 and i am now 23, They make them in different absorbency's so you can wear the right one during the right level of flow you are experiencing. If you have a really heavy flow you should wear a super plus. If you go swimming just make sure the string isn't hanging out is all!
yes, LOVE tampons, hate pads! i've been using tampons since i was 13ish. i've always had a pretty light flow; i was on the swim team when i was 13, so that's why i used them. i like the applicators; tampax pearl to be exact.
