Answers: I am not too sure about which method to use...either injection or implant...whats best??

The pill- if you forget, then ur screwed
The coil- A metal thing in your womb- ew!
The injection- Go to your GP every 3 months to have an injection- annoying!
The patch- highly unreliable. About 70% of overweight people can get pregnant off the patch, as the hormone doesnt sink through the fat to get through the bloodsteam. Its a risk you shouldnt take, even if your not overweight.
The best bet if the implant- over 99% effective, beats all the others, only a small injection which numbs your arm, and within 20 seconds an implant is placed under your skin, cant feel anything, and is fantastic as you dont need to remember taking anything, however, you do bleed every now and again, but mine have stopped altogether for a year now which is ace

I use a coil - it's been in for about 4 years and been fine, don't know it's there and my husband can't feel it.

abstinance is 100% effective

Birth control pills, patches, shots, implants, and rings all have about the same rate of effectiveness (99%). You should figure out what works best for your lifestyle.

I've only taken the pill, but I've had absolutely no problems in 5 years. If you're the type of person whose schedule changes frequently or won't remember to take the pill on time, the patch is a good option because you only have to remember it once a week.

I've heard negative things, especially on this site, about the shot and implant. Both use forms of progestin, which seems to cause more side effects than estrogen (I don't know that scientifically, but it's what I've noted online and with my friends). Some of my friends in college had the shot, and they had problems with mood swings. That seems to be a common complain on Yahoo! Answers too.

If the pill isn't an option for you, I'd look into NuvaRing or the patch. If you are choosing solely between the shot or implant, personally I'd pick the implant, which delivers hormones gradually rather than all at once.

i have the mirena coil. It depends on your health authority as to whether they will fit you one is you havent any children.

This is my second one, so I've been using this method for 6 and half years now. I would recommed it to anyone, I forget its there, my hubby does too. Added benefit, although some women find this hard to get used to, no periods. Saves a fortune in sanitary pads and tampons.
