Why does this happen? girls only please?!

Question: it seems like during the week of my period or sometimes the week i'm supposed to have it (i don't always because i have an IUD) i always have mild vaginal itching. is it a hormonal thing? a stress thing? does anyon else go through this during their period? is usually lasts about five to six days and then just goes away. what could this be!?! it's driving me nuts and my docs say i'm fine...

I go through this too, I think its hormonal or something to do with irritation from maybe blood or tampons or whatever, to tell you the truth i don't have a clue, I do know that your not alone tho, I get it as does my best friend.

You can have your doctor check again, but if they say it's fine, it probably is. While I personally do not experience what you do, I have heard of women having itches or other things during their period. Like I said earlier, double-check with your doctor, tell them what you've posted here, and see what happens from there.

Best of luck!

OMG! so weird i have dat same problem! its so annoying! and like u cant itch it!! it sux! good luck!

any kind of itching sounds pretty bad.u might want to get that checked out

I think it has to do with the fact that the ph (acid level) of you vagina lowers during your period. This allows yeast to grow more than usual and cause itching.

If your doc says you are fine, does that mean you've had a test for yeast/bacterial infection/STD's if so, then maybe you are allergic to soap, laundry soap, bleach or something else.

Try taking a bath with baking soda in the water to see if the itch goes away.
