When women get pregnant? Why?!?!

Question: It seems such a simple concept to me to use protection. But I see many young people get pregnant? why is it that they dont use protection? or do they but something wrong happens? I need to know. at least generalized reasons. Like i said its all too common and it seems so avoidable by just using a condom at the least. and who here are active on a regular basis, for how long, and what protection is used if any?

im in college, so i know how it works, i dont need anyone to talk to me condescending-like lol

I know, I work at a hospital. The OB wing is litterally right across the hall, I saw a 12 year old go into Labor and Delivery - A 12 YEAR OLD!! Our sex education in this country (the US) really sucks. Kids are getting pregnant earlier and earlier, and they still are only starting (in Illinois atleast) the classes in 7th and 8th grade. At that girl's age, she had not even had a class on how to prevent pregnancy. In other countries, sex ed starts so much sooner, parents actually talk to their children about it. My parents were wonderful, always insightful, never judgemental. I was 14 when I decided to go on the pill. I started having sex when I was 15, and still used a condom, every time. I guess I just learned responsibility and I knew of the consequences if I was careless. I just hope I can pass my parents' wisdom onto my children, because Lord knows we can't rely on the school systems to teach our kids about responsibility.

Sometimes, they lust hromones overwhelm the rational brain and it's All Systems Go

I too am puzzled by this. Especially since I am strongly opposed to abortion and it seems that a great percentage of abortions are actually ex post facto contraception.

my guess (and it's only a guess) is just because, as they say one thing leads to another...
i know what you mean it seems so simple. in some cases it's probably a cry for attention...and in others it's probably a case of protection not being 100% effective. i'd like to use the phrase "nature always finds a way".
as for your last 3 questions, i have no experience here at all-i only know people who have ahd experience. i deem myself too young. so that about covers it. and honestly the best protection in my opinion, if someone really doesn't want to get pregnant, then just don't do it.
