It's dangerous. 1500 calories is minimum for maintaining proper body functions; you're not getting what you need. 1500 calories is also an appropriate intake for maintaining weight; while you won't be maintaining 85 pounds, you will look healthy.

Right now, I think you are anorexic and need help. You are correct; your thinness is the reason you are not having your period, and it could lead to some very serious health issues, including death. Please see a doctor ASAP.

ur too skinny Report It

  • Why do you keep asking this question? Chances are, you haven't had your period in 6 months because you are 13 and it's irregular. You will get it back no matter what, but it's pretty dumb that you are sacrificing your life just for that. You need to see a doctor...

Go see a doctor. That is a very unhealthy. Your body is still developing and you are setting yourself for a lot of health problems in the future.

What you are doing is considered extremely dangerous. If you continue doing this, you could die. You are sick and anorexic and you need help! Please tell an adult you trust now!

Yes 85lbs at 5'5" is nearly anerixic. Sounds dangerous. You might want to seek counseling or start eating better on your own.

It is dangerous. It is very common for women with anorexia to stop their period.

Your period is the nutrient rich lining of your uterus.
If your body has no nutrients to spare, your period will stop.

I highly suggest slowly bring up your weight and seeing a doctor. You are severely under weight and should get help!

    Good Luck!

Your body has set off alarm bells! Listen to it. There is nothing wrong with exercising, but you have to have enough fuel (calories) to do so. I would talk to your school nurse and ask about the right amount of healthy calories you should be eating everyday.

You are supposed to have a period once a month for a reason.

It IS dangerous. Not eating/not getting enough calories in a day can have very harmful effects. Your body goes into starvation mode, and once it consumes every bit of fat there is, it starts consuming muscles. Once it eats about 50% of your own muscle tissue...you die. Its that simple. It sounds like its about to start eating muscle if you havn't had your period in 6 months (it's probably already started).
Not having your period messes up your reproductive system alot of you're not getting it and you should be (like if you started it and it stopped because you are starving yourself. If you havn't started it to begin with, you MIGHT be fine in that regard).
Also, seeing as how you are 13, your parents, if you get too skinny/sick...can force you into the hospital with a feeding tube shoved into your stomache, forcing you to eat. How would you like a feeding tube coming out of your stomache? Seems pretty gross to me.
I STRONGLY recommend seeing a therapist.

Simple, your period has stopped because you are underweight. Please see a doctor because being afraid to gain back the weight is a sign that you are beginning to be anorexic. You need to be good to your body. Being this obsessed about exercise and not eating is a vicious cycle (I watched my mother do this with horrible results). Your health will decline if you continue this path. I am sure that your parents are concerned, please confide in one of them and get help that you deserve. Good luck!

I don't think that this is a smart idea. I know that it is more convenient to not have a period, but it's not worth the lifelong changes you are making in your body right now. It's true that if a woman doesn't have sufficient body fat that her period may not occur regularly. That's why gymnasts often look different, even as they get older. Not having your period is not an isolated event...it's tied in to your hormones and development. (Think boobs.) Long term menstrual irregularities are known to have detrimental effects on bone mineral status and fertility. Low bone density can especially effect the spine. I would suggest resuming a normal diet and perhaps when you are older (say around 18 - 20 years old) starting depo provera, an injection birth control that often stops menstruation completely as a "side effect."

i weighed 75 pounds when i was your age, i'm now 27, 5'10" and weigh 120 pounds. I got my period when i was 17. that's when my body was ready and my periods have always been irregular. I'm not anorexic. Your period hasn't stopped because you are "so thin" its because of hormones. You're not really THAT thin.

    your pregnant
    and your going to die
    haha [[:
