Will bacterial vaginosis go away on it's own?!

Question: I think I may have bacterial vaginosis. I am on my 6th day of Monistat 7 and I still have some symptoms so I don't think it was/is a yeast infection. I have NO health insurance so I can't go to the doctor. I don't have a planned parenting clinic in my area. We have a health department but the soonest appointment is in May 08!

My symptoms are now;

a not so fresh smell. Not sure how to descibe the smell. Sometimes it does smell a little fishy, but mostly just doesn't smell good at all. I can smell it even through pants!

A white/clear discharge.

I did have itching, burning skin with it but the monistat cleared the itch and redness up.

I am a virgin so I know it's not an STD.

Will this go away on it's own or is there any at home treatments for bacterial vaginosis?

No, you need an antibiotic (flagyl) to clear it up. Yeast infection is fungal. See a doctor. Use ivory when you are washing your genitals. Also don't douche or use perfumes in that area it can cause problems.

Please see a doctor, don't self diagnose.

well it might be an infection u have to see a doctor

I consulted a site and it says it may go away on its own after 2-3 days but if not you need an antibiotic.

no u ghave it forevrer sorru

If it is bacterial in nature you need an antibiotic cream and or antibiotic by mouth. It can lead to infertility in the future because it can scar your filopian tubes. It will not go away. It can lead to something very serious called Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. Please seek treatment, if after you completely finish your monistat you have no relief.
Good Luck

You need to get on antibiotics. Monistat will not cure bv.
If it has a foul smell, it probably is bv. Yeast infections can have a slight smell, but not FOUL. Call for an emergency appointment. I'm sure they will fit you in.

If the monistat didn't work, it's not a yeast infection. I don't think that a bacterial infection is going to go away on its own. I don't know if they make it anymore, you can ask the pharmacist, but there used to be something called betadine douche. If they do have it, ask the pharmacist if it will help a bacterial infection. On the chance that it is a yeast infection, eat about 2-3 cartons of yogurt a day. That will help a yeast infection, and even if that's not what it is, it certainly won't hurt. You could always go ahead and schedule the appt with the health dept, and call back every few days to see if there's been a cancellation that you can grab. That way if you don't have it cleared up by then, at least you have the appt made and can take it.

Hi,

No for the treatment . It should be treated with an appropriate course of antibiotics. It is very important to treat the male partner even if he does not have symptoms, otherwise the infection keeps recurring in the woman. If the full treatment is not taken, the infection can recur. In case of trichomoniasis, it is preferable to eliminate the parasite. Metronidazole is the best drug for the treatment of trichomoniasis. People taking this drug should avoid taking alcohol as a severe reaction with nausea and vomiting can occur.

If yeast cream get rid of itch and burn is good! Have you only put yeast cream on outside vagina? because it needs go up inside vagina too to get complete rid (is true). Hope feel better soon! Keep legs crossed to hide smell.
