If i wear the same tampon (for like 5 hours) is it ok to insert another tampon?!

Question: or is it safer to switch between tampons and pads?

Answers: or is it safer to switch between tampons and pads?

People seem to be misunderstanding you, thinking you're going to use multiple tampons at once.

It's perfectly fine to use tampons back-to-back. That's what I normally do. Since you want to change them every 6 hours or so, you may want to use tampons during the day and switch to a pad at night. That'll reduce the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS), which is a staph infection that's been linked to leaving a tampon in for longer than recommended or using a higher absorbancy than you need.

It is ok unless you feel some sort of discomfort... some people are allergic to tampons

what?!?!?

have you ever heard of toxic shock syndrome.

go read the tampax directions again. s l o w

After you take the other one out yes. Some people just wear pads and some people just wear tampons.

my mom says she only uses tampons and my sister only uses tampons so it must be ok to do it that way.

well it matters what kind of
treatments u have used before or
if u ever had desises i would
call a doctor and ask
or ask ur mom...
For the most part if u have good health then i think yes but i still would call a doctor

leave it in for less than 5 hours unless u wanna get tss or just use pads they're easier apparently

you mean like wear two at once? absolutely not.
but if you mean take that one out and put a new one in, then yeah, thats fine.

it's fine as long as it doesn't hurt. i would switch between pads and tampons to reduce the risk of TSS. I would wear pads at night.

go ahead and use tampons continuously. they're neater. and 5 hours is not that long

These people who are saying you will get TSS are wrong!! there are less than 100 cases of tampon related TSS in the US each year. and think of how many millions of women use tampons.
I know its gross but i sometimes leave in tampons for like 24 hours becuase i have a really light flow, and i am absolutely fine

yeah... like when you sleep... switch to a pad, and durring the day wear tampons... but what do you mean is it ok to insert another one? if you take the first one out yeah.. i mean... that's what you're supposed to do.

You can switch your tampon as often as you like! Its best to keep it in for a short amount of time and then replace it with another one. Failure to do so and leaving it in (all day or longer) can cause TSS or Toxic Shock Syndrome. Tampons and pads can be rotated, but using a tampons all day long wont hurt you :)

i think it should be fine..i mean that is what thier made for..my friend only wears tampons..she never wears pads!!you should be fine!!

You should make sure to remove the 1st tampon. You may use a second, but I would not recommend having them in continously for 24 hours. I would consider using pads at night.

The concern was the hype about the "super" tampons in 80's when people left them in too long and had problems with toxic shock syndrome.

Just make sure to change them in the recommended period, usually every 4-6 hours or more often as needed. Anything that is wet and stays in your body has a risk of being a breeding ground for bacteria.

It is totally safe!! TSS (Toxic shock syndrome) is only a possibility if you leave the same tampon in for more than 8 hours. (although I wouldn't recommend leaving one in for more than 4 hours at a time.)

Hope this helps!!

Yes definitely... just make sure you take the other one out... I never use pads... I even use tampons over night...

After you remove the one that you were wearing, it is perfectly fine to insert another, as long as you didn't have any pain or any symptoms of toxic shock syndrome. Make sure you read the pamphlet that comes with the tampons and follow the directions. Five hours is a good amount of time to leave the tampon in. :)...Also it is recommended that you switch between pads and tampons every other period to reduce your chances of contracting TSS

I hope you mean take the first one out then put new one in??
Never have two tampons in at the same time.

yes, i think so. Tampon after tampon is what I do on my period. I usually have to use both anyways because the first two days of my cycle are really heavy. Just don't wear the same tampon for longer than 6 hours. Not only would it create a VERY foul odor, but it just isn't healthy.

Tampons are a wonderful invention, and you shouldn't be afraid. It will be okay!

yes because you're supposed to change your tampon every 4-8 hours...don't you read the box? and it think it is ok to use another tampon as long as you take the other one out....but if you want to wear pads to be comfortable it's ok

ALWAYS take the tampon out before putting in a new one!!! if you don't do that then bacteria will grow on the old tampon and you could get toxic shock syndrome. it's rare, but it's deadly. besides, you'd feel much cleaner changing tampons each time.

Insert as many as you can. They come in a 12 pack, right?

I think it shouldn't be a problem. You're probably worried about toxic shock syndrome. according to this website www.askmygyn.com - click on vaginal infections, then toxic shock syndrome, in the last question they recommend how not to get toxic shock syndrome. They tell you not to wear each tampon more than four hours, I guess that means that you can switch tampons as long as you are not wearing the same one.

It's fine.

TSS is (read the package) a RARE illness. It was more common many years ago when they made a tampon by the name of Rely which had different kinds of fibers that scratched the lining of the vagina and allowed bacteria to grow. They took these tampons off the market. You don't have to change every 4 hours, or 8 hours, or even 12 hours, if your flow is light enough. I wear the same one all day long when the flow is light, I have been doing it for 35 years, and have never known anyone to get TSS. Don't worry about it, the chances of getting TSS is very remote.

I never switch between tampons and pads. I can't stand pads they are grouse. So I think it is fine (so long as you are not allergic to tampons) that you can just use tampons. Just make sure you chose the right absorbency for your flow and to never keep it in longer than 8 hours.

you should change more often

It's fine to insert one after taking the other out! as long as youre changing them often to avoid TSS, it's safe. many women use tampons only. I do suggest wearing pads at nite though unless you only sleep 4-5 hrs!! give yourself a break at nite. that's what i do.

l find that pads are so much comfortable then tampons but lf you inserted a tampon in you you have to take the one you inserted in you and put a fresh one in. but don`t forget to take the old one out you inserted first

Tampons are easier and cleaner. No your vagina isnt a parking lot! y r u tring to stuff it? plus you would prob get an infection or a really bad odor!

YUCkkk

you're dirty
