Are there any side effects to going off of the pill?!

Question: I'm getting ready to go off of the pill for a month (I'm having terrible headaches, and my gyno wants to make sure it's due to the pills). Anything I should expect? I assume there will be really bad cramps (I had terrible cramps before) and heavier periods.

The most common symptoms you'll experience is irregular periods for a few months, and hormone fluctuation which can cause depression. My two daughters went off of them months ago and their periods were heavier than on the pill, but not as bad as they were before the pill. They also only have minmal cramping which was usuallly awful before the pill. They both watch their diets and cut out sugar and caffeine which they say really helps. I hope all goes smooth for you too!

it usually depends on each individual. Are you taking a different type of pill from the pills that you stopped last time? If so, you could have diff affects.

I had no side effects after going off...besides I got pregnant right away. The headaches went away, and my skin cleared up. My body felt so much better. Good luck...and be careful

You will probably feel a little out of whack for a while. Anytime your body has to go through any type of hormonal change, it takes a little bit of time for it to adjust so don't freak out if your cramps get worse or your periods seem heavier, or you don't seem to be running on your normal menstrual cycle schedule. Just give your body some time to adjust. Soon you'll be back to normal.

If you start having serious problems though...like constant heavy bleeding, or missing periods for months on in then definitely contact your doctor as soon as you can. These things are rare but they do happen. Don't hesitate to talk to your doctor about anything you have questions about or are concerned about. That's what you're paying them for!

You most likely will have bad cramps and really heavy bleeding. They may come alot closer together or further apart.

I went of my BC in January and I was having a period every other week than at the end of Feb I haven't had one since. Got a PT done and no baby yet the doc said it was because I was on it for 3 years! I was on the Nuva ring and it was so easy and great. If you want to talk to your doc about that just in case.

Best of luck to you. Hope that your Headaches get better!
