HPV and pregnant?!
Question: I just found out that i have HPV and I might also be pregnant the thing is that i received the shot that "helps" prevent HPV and cervical cancer i think its called "Gardisil" anyways i got the shot before being diagnosed and now the doctors says that i should be concerned if i am pregnant becase 1. they wont be able to "treat" me for the HPV and 2. the shot they gave me is known to cause birth defects. she said no one should get pregnant till after 6months of taking the shots. i need someone elses opinion i am very concerned. has anyone gone through this? and if u havent what do you think?

Okay, Gardasil is only a vaccine, it's not used for treatment. The doctors won't be able to treat you right now because the safety of the meds for HPV-namely, Podofilox(Condylox), Podophyllin(Podofin) and Imiquimod(Aldara)- have not yet been determined for women who are pregnant. You got HPV because there are no absolute guarantees that you won't ever get it due to the fact that there are more than 80 strains of HPV and that vaccines are available only for certain strains (16,18,11 and 6 to be exact), not all. Don't continue in completing the dose of your Gardasil if you still haven't completed your dose administration. I asked my mom who's a doctor and she told me that reasearch is still ongoing for Gardasil's effect on pregnant women and although birth defects may not neccessarily happen, it's always a possibility. The doctors should've informed you BEFORE or IMMEDIATELY RIGHT AFTER giving you the shot that you shouldn't get pregnant right away.
