Question: me & my fiancee have been together 5years. we have always had great sex life but during the last 6months (maybe a bit less) it has become so painful. the pain is like at the top of my vagina, its feels like my cervix (i dont know for sure) its like somethings blocking his penis and it hurts me. sex has sometimes on & off been painful as he is large but arent you ment to get used to this after five years sometimes (especialy lately) im too tight for him to even enter. its put me off sex completely we've gone from 3times a day to maybe 2 times a week now! i have already asked my doctor and she says we dont do gyno exams (in england)and your to young anyway for a general check up & pap smear down there. (im almost 20) im very mad at this because something has to be wrong. im changing doctors now but until then could you tell me what this could be please for a little reassurence. im really worried. its def not STD/Aids we are 100% faithful and only been wth each other. thanx for any advice

1) change your GP - if you're sexually active you should be having regular smears.

2) If it has only recently become painful during every sexual act, it is an indication that something has changed. You should have a gynaecological examination and it's outrageous that your doctor was not prepared to do this.

3) Whilst you're waiting to change doctor, go to a local women's health clinic and ask for an appointment asap and explain to them what you are worried about.

4) In the meantime, you could experiment with different sexual positions to avoid pain.

i have the exact same thing! i get period like pain after too sometimes. all my dr did was rule out an infection, but i knew it wasnt that!

You are not too young for a pelvic exam. Find another doctor.

Meanwhile, maybe this article will help you:

its because you are now aware that it has hurt a few times, so you now tense - unknowingly- because you are expecting it to hurt. it is a viscious circle, I have had a similar problem, make sure you are completely relazed and take it slowly

I'm sure that everything will be fine. Glad to hear you are changing doctors. If you are concerned about something, then it needs to be addressed. I'm not sure why she would tell you that you are too young for a pap smear. If you are sexually active, you should be having regular yearly exams, so you should have had 5 by now. Why don't they do gyno exams in England? I find that strange. Good luck!

You are not too young for a GYN exam. You are doing right by changing Drs. have you tried any extra lube during sex. KY Silke is very good. If you bf is too long he could be hitting your cervix causing pain. Your vagina will stretch for girth not length. good luck with your new Dr.

so it's still helps you relax

Be smart and don't give up until you find a good doctor. You might try calling a local hospital to help you find a good gynecologist. There are female gynecologists practicing that you may find comfortable.

I and my sister both have had this problem. I don't want to frighten you but you may have some cyst or tumor that has gotten large enough to cause pain when compressed by the pressure of sex. Even a small cyst can cause great discomfort during sex. The one I had was only the size of my smallest finger (pinky) and was quite painful to me during sex. My sister's, on the other hand, was very large and as an alternative to surgery, was reabsorbed by her body by the effects of acupuncture. I also elected to receive acupuncture for my course of treatment. Both my sister and I remain cyst and tumor free. That was in 1982. Acupuncture balances the energy in your body so it can function like it is suppose to. I'd have a million acupuncture treatments before I would go have surgery.

Also, your body is obviously mature enough for sex and that means setting up a good relationship with a reputable gynecologist for all of your "female" problems.

But don't give up until you have some good sound answers and you are relieved of your pain and not by taking pain medication. That IS NOT the solution here.

It is possible that you might also be experiencing an ectopic pregnancy. Slim but possible. An ectopic pregnancy is one in which the fertilized egg implants in tissue outside of the uterus and the placenta and fetus begin to develop there. The most common site is within a Fallopian tube, however, ectopic pregnancies can occur in the ovary, the abdomen, and in the lower portion of the uterus (the cervix).

Good luck, dear. I hope all is well. Don't wait any longer to find a good gynecologist or obstetrician.

You should see a different doctor, it could be something serious, it could be nothing at all to worry about.

You are not too young to get a pap test. I've been getting them since I was 16 years old and in most places you have to start them at 18.

Find another doctor. In the US, girl should have a pap by your age.

The average depth of a vagina is 4 to 6 inches, so if your guy is longer than that, tell him to stop going in all the way. He's bumping your cervix and it will cause pain.
