The best generic birth control pill?!

Question: I've been using ortho tri-cyclen lo for 4 years. Because I'm a college student and can no longer afford the 50 dollars a month to fill it, I'd like to try something inexpensive. Any suggestions?

I'm on Sprintec which is generic for Ortho Cyclen. I know they have a Tri-Sprintec that is generic for regular Ortho Tri Cyclen, ask your pharmacist to see if they have one for the lo version.

edit... generic birth control is not something to worry about to address another poster's concern. They still have the same active ingredients and still work the same way they just have different fillers.

nuva ring

There is one that's 100% effective, and free. It's called ABSTINENCE. Get a dildo; the only upkeep is the batteries.

call the local health department where your school is...they may have a plan where you can get your pills for free. In Alabama, there is something called PlanFirst which allows you to receive birth control at no cost if you cant afford them otherwise...

I went from Ortho tri-cyclen to Yasmin and it was no problem. I had health insurance but even then had to pay $35 for Ortho. When I took Yasmin, it was $8. I also tried the Nuva ring and it wasn't expensive either. I didn't feel sick on Yasmin or the ring like I did on the ortho. In fact, the Yasmin reduced my menstrual flow to 3 days. Good luck!

when it come to the pill you really want a generic one

Nobody can make a good suggestion except your doctor, because he/she knows your health history and which side effects you might be prone to.
A lot of women love Yasmin and Loestrin, and I hated them. Yasmin made me nauseous for 6 months, and Loestrin made me lose my hair.
If you didn't have problems with Ortho tri-cyclen lo, you should probably stick to a three-phasic low dose pill.
walmart sells generic ortho-try cyclen lo on their $9/month plan. Check with your college pharmacy first- sometimes they offer all medications at deep discount, since you already pay for them when you pay your student fees.

I use the generic for Orthocyclen called Mononessa... I'm very happy with it. My cycle is always like clockwork and I pay $10 a month for it (which is my co-pay for insurance).

Try Trinessa. I was on Ortho Tri-cyclin and this was my generic, it actually worked pretty well. =)
