I'm scared to get my period in school?!

Question: What if I do? I'm to embarrised to go back and ask the teacher to go to the nurse, She'll ask why and, If I use the bathroom and get it, Should I put paper towels in my pants, or should I just start wearing tampons?

My mom bought some for me. In case.

i'm 13. I weigh 120 pounds. I'm not fat. Lol. I'm tall. 5'4. I'm kind of developing.

Ok, first of all, you're going through puberty. You have boobs, possibly pubic hair, possibly armpit hair, and possibly discharge (creamy whitish/clear fluid that comes out of the vagina). If you have the discharge, you should start anywhere from 6 months to two years from when you first noticed the discharge. Also, if you get your period in class, just tell the teacher you have to go the bathroom. By the way, start carrying a pad around with you if you've got the discharge, because those are self-explanatory for their use and tampons can take almost an hour to get in the first time if you don't know how. Even if you do, they take a while. My school goes by the fact that if a girl has to go to the bathroom and they bring their backpack or are wearing a big sweatshirt of a shirt with long sleeves when it's hot that they started and really need to go to the bathroom. I only have one female teacher and she doesn't let anyone out of the room no matter how badly you need to during her class. My guy teachers, on the other hand, just don't care anymore. Our school nurse is never there, and one girl has a huge box of pads in her locker for 25 cents apiece just in case, so it's all good. She doesn't use her locker, so every girl in the school, even some guys, knows the combination. Oh, yeah, if you've had a huge growth spurt, you're very likely to start soon. I'm 13 and 5'2 1/2" and started for the first time in February. Of course, the day I started, the nurse was actually there giving sports physicals. For the guys. Track guys. Big leg muscle cute guys. I had a really heavy first period for some reason and had bled all over my khaki pants. (My school has a uniform so strict we can't tie a sweater around out waist) I had to tell the nurse about my problem in front of all of them. I'll pray that doesn't happen to you. Also, girls can get their periods anytime from when they're 8 to when they're 18, so don't worry. P.S. I would recommend the pads as opposed to the paper towels. Those are scratchy and hurt, and so does toilet paper, btw.

just lie to your teacher and say you have a headache if it does happen.

your first time won't be heavy, so don't worry too much.

and definitely don't wear tampons if you don't have your period.

ask to go to the nurse they will understand

When i first got mine, it was in school and all i did was put some toilet paper in my pants. You shouldnt wear tampons yet, if anything, wear pads if youre sure you will get it soon!

~ Hope i helped ^.^

carry some protection with you, just in case. Most of the time you will start spotting before you get it full on. Just relax, all the girls around you are going through the same thing.

Bring tampons to school just in case. Dont start wearing tampons if you dont have your period, it will be very uncomfortable taking out because it wont be wet. When you get your period, you'll know. If you get your period in school, you'll feel it, and just simply go to the bathroom and use one of your tampons.

do exactly wut the first person said, and because ur probably just starting out ur periode, DO NOT USE TAMPONS. wait about 6 months before u use tampons. wear pads just cuz ur first starting out. and it wont b gross cuz it wont be heavy.

If you have a female nurse she'll be understanding, and you don't have to tell the teacher, just excuse yourself to the bathroom. However, I would recommend putting some pads into your bag just in case. Since the starting time for everyone varies putting them in your pants isn't really needed unless you start to feel cramps.

why are you scared. buy some freaking pads.

it shouldnt be that heavy your first time but just carry some pads with you dont use tampons at first, pads r so much easier and you might get confused with ow to put tampons in

There is nothing to be embarrassed about; it's natural and your teacher will understand. Take pads or a tampon in your purse and you might think of having a change of sweat pants and panties in your locker.

It would be wisest to carry some tampons or pads (pads might be easier than trying to insert a tampon for the first time in a school bathroom with limited time) in your purse or backpack. If you see any blood on the toilet paper, go ahead and use one. If you have any sensation of cramps, it would probably be useful to go ahead and use a pad -- you can leave those for longer if you're not actually bleeding than you can a tampon, and they won't dry you out like using a tampon when there's no flow.

Don't be embarrassed, though. The teacher is aware of menstruation, and it surely won't be the first time it's come up.

It happens. Just be ready. Stop the worry about pads and pad wrappers and all the stuff that happens. It is just part of being a woman. What do you do when someone has ther period? You just take it in stride and get on with life...
