If your hormones are out of sync due to your recent tubal litigation, it makes sense that your doctor would prescribe hormones, since this is the logical step to take. It may indeed even out your sex hormones, and reduce your acne, back pain, lack of sex drive, etc. Hormones are so temperamental that something as simple as birth control can really help to regulate your body.

If he treated you like you are crazy though, honestly get a second opinion. It is a person's right to be treated correctly at any doctor's appointment. It seems as though he did not explain at all why he would have put you on b.c, so I'd simply see another doctor if your insurance will cover it. Better safe than sorry.

Something else you may want to take into consideration is getting a very low hormone birth control.

if you have irregular periods, that's a good enough reason to be on birth control pills plus tubes can come untied!

It's because the pills can help regulate your period and relieve some of your syptoms, until you begin menopause.

I am more concerned with the way the doctor treated you. If you left the office feeling like he thought you were crazy, I would change physicians. No provider of care should ever make you feel that way. He should have also provided an easy to understand explanation as to WHY he was putting you on the Pill. Please switch doctors for your own sake.

This occurs with alot of women who have tubals. It can cause your period symptoms to get worse. I spoke with my doctor about it and he said if you had a history of "bad"periods, then after a tubal these symptoms would get alot worse. Then he would put me on the pill (or just never take me off of it). This is normal. You may have had your tubes tied to avoid the pill, but your doc should have told you there would be side effects to that surgery. The hormones in the pills should help with your issues right now and regulate your period, also making it lighter and less painful. good luck
