I've been depressed for 3 days and.... please!!?!


Question: i haven't been sleeping well i have gotten about 10-15 hours of sleep in the past 3 days and i don't want to do anything, i am on anti-depressants and they have been helping but now i am really depressed and i don't know why and i haven't seen my psychologist since 1 or 2 weeks before christmas and i don't know what to do please help me out? i don't feel anything and i have cut 3 times before and then stopped and i want to do it again but my doctor says if i do it again i will have to go into a mental hospital and all i just don't know what to do! i would be so glad if you willhelp. thanks

First of all cutting is about control because you feel you have no other control in your life. So that's the desire. Take a deep breath you're going to get through this!

Ok so you're not telling us if when you're going to sleep are you restless.. like is your mind just thinking crazy thoughts not letting you sleep or is it that your body is restless like you have a cramp in your leg and you keep moving side to side to get comfortable. I have a feeling it's the first one, cos you're depressed. So I would recommend you keep taking your anti-depressants for right now, journal your feelings down (the good the bad the hurt your feeling) then ask to see your therapist again or even change to a new one, but tell your parents that you must see one in the next week or two. When you see the therapist take your journal with you so you can talk about what's goin on and they can help you better.

Working out helps you let off steam so if it's stress induced depression that will help a lot! Even going out to get fresh air. But the whole cutting thing is a downward spiral of the negative thoughts and is addictive like drugs, sex, food... anything can be used to be an addition so why not try listening to the birds outside and looking up and thinking more positive thoughts. Laugh... watch a funny movie or any funny comedy show.

There's many reasons why people get depressed but it can be what you're going through at home or biological. so work on that and keep your chin up. You're not alone and there is help out there for you.
