Lately I have been having a bit of insomnia. She insists it is menopause.?!

Question: It is true that I am 40 but the women in my family have had children without fertility drugs into their 40's (healthy) It really upsets me because I haven't had kids and I just don't want to talk about it and I already had tests from my doctor and he says no you aren't in menopause. Why the second you turn 40 does everything have to be about menopause? I think it is insensitive

My mom is 49 and still hasn't hit menopause but though she would years ago. Yes, many people have insomnia when they go into menopause, but that doesn't mean you are. Anyways, it could just be the time change or stress. Try some melatonin to re-regulate your sleep schedule.

She's weird LOL.
I'd just ignore her.
Insomnia can be caused by diet, stress, caffeine or even slight anemia.

National US age average that a woman ceases her period is 52 with menopause starting a few years before.

Insomnia generally is not the first sign and it is most likely caused by other issues ie: stress, diet, weather, work, relationships etc.

You are very right to look at your family history as this generally indicates the path that you will follow in relation to menopause.

The main thing is it will happen when it happeneds and there isn't any amount of worry that will stop it. It is a natural progression in life and is proven to be any easier transition when equaled out by a well balanced diet.

So shrug off your friends own insecurities and try to not take them on as your own.

Hope it helps...
