Dear Rachel,
First of all you have to understand that depression strarts from the mind. Check what kind of thoughts you maintain your mind all throughout the day. You see our mind is very complex processing mechanism of thoughts. If you don't pay attention to it for all you know your day will finish and you have been thinking situation, people or events that makes you feel depressed althought those events happened 2 years ago, 1 year ago or even 6 months ago that triggers your low feeling energy and you become like a cellphone with low bat., all you have to do everytime you feel very low/down or if caught yourself beggining to be in that same state of mind, do something active ( walking, cleaning the house, gardening, cooking) or another thing you can do is this something very subtle, is shift you thoughts into other directions ( imagine a mountain covered with green grass, or visualize a clean, clear water falls on your mind) or another method is remember the most joyfull moment of your life that you feel you achived somthing. You know visualizing beautiful scene on our mind makes us feel recharge.
You can experiment on visualization and check if it will help you.

You probably suffer from chronic depression which is caused by fluctuations in chemicals in your body and not necessarily anything wrong in your life. Talk to your doctor about it, you'll feel a lot better, I think. Congratulations on your baby :).

Because rich pigs make our lives suck while they live like kings

I'm 21, I've been diagnosed with severe depression twice now, and one thing I've learned is that it can take absolutely nothing to trigger it.

Depression can be triggered by negative events in your life, but most patients suffer a chemical imbalance of the brain that is quite often hereditary. Find out if there is a history of depression in your maternal family, and I'd also advise you to see your GP. He/she will probably be very understanding and will deal with cases like yours on a regular basis, and depending on the severity of your diagnosis will probably refer you for counselling or recommend antidepressants, or both.

Please don't be worried about seeking help, there are people who can help you through this. Have you tried explaining your feelings to your boyfriend or parents? Sometimes just saying things out lound makes them so much easier to deal with.

Please please remember there is NOTHING wrong with you, depression is an illness not a fault, and just as you would seek help for a broken leg, you should seek help for this, I know what it's like and it gets so much easier when you're not trying to cope on your own. Please don't hesitate to send me a message if you'd like someone neutral to chat to. Good luck, and congratulations on your pregnancy!

it's possible because of your pregnancy that your hormones are changing causing the depression. don't feel bad it will soon regulate and it will be normal for you to get mood swings. hopefully you have a supportive family and if you do they will help you get through this.
