Should I go to a doctor or am I being paranoid?!

Question: I'm 27 years old and have been married for 4 years. I've had a copper IUD for the same length of time (actually got it inserted the day after I got married). Since the IUD insertion my periods have always been on time- and usually rather heavy (side effect of the IUD). Also I tend to get spotting a few days after my period ends (another common side effect of the IUD).

Now all of a sudden I am approximately 12 or 13 days late. I am never late. I also have some cramping that is unlike typical menstrual cramping. I took TWO separate pregnancy tests (the last one just this morning) and both were negative. Also, my breasts are NOT tender or sore. Because of my copper IUD I am a little worried about the possibility of an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy. With the IUD this is apparently very common and it's dangerous! Sometimes an ectopic preg. doesn't show up on a test, though usually they do. Am I being paranoid? Should I give it a week and retest? I'm kind of freaking out.

yeah.. sounds like it could quite possibly could be an etopic pregnancy, which is very dangerous. Your def. not being paranoid and should definitely go get checked, especially if this isnt normal for you and your used to being on time with the IUD. It couldnt hurt anything. Why are you even taking the time to consider... do you not have insurance? Its better to be safe than sorry! Call now..

If you have health insurance, see a doc asap!

id go to a doctor just to find out everything right away.

You should go see a doctor.

Just the fact that you freaking out is a good enough reason for you to go see a doctor. Even if it turns out to be nothing at least you will have the peace of mind of knowing that.

i wouldn't give it a week, this is something serious, if this isn't normal, than i would go check it out immediately, this is a serious thing, and i don't think you should make a foolish decision to over look it, your not paranoid, and i think you should go check it out sooner than later, and be sorry, i hope all goes well

gud to see a docter...

Like my mother use to say, "Stop stressing and see your doctor"
If you are really concern about your health see a doctor, that is why we have them. In choosing a doctor get recommendations from someone that works in the Health Field. Then check out the credentials if you don't already have your own GYN Specialist.
God Bless

go to the doctor -- 12/13 days late isn't really good! relax -- the doctor isnt going to think you're being paranoid! better be safe than sorry!

hey good morning, so sorry to hear that you are in pain. i had one of those copper iud's - i don't mean to make you panic, but GO now and have the thing REMOVED! the same thing (you describe in your statement above) almost exactly happened to me! i almost bled to death! had it not been for a friend carrying me to the doc's i don't know what would have happened. there is a new kind of IUD type of thing that doesn't involve copper. my IUD slipped a bit they told me and was causing the excessive bleeding. please go and have yourself check out - with those things you just don't know - you could have become allergic to the copper - it could have slipped - or your body could be trying to reject it. please please go to doc and check asap
