Depo shot? miscarriage?!
Question: I was on the depo shot for 9 months and have been off of it for a year...while i was coming off of it i bled for about 6 months straight..i think ive gotten my normal period back but its the first one since my 6 month period so i dont know if its normal. my husband and i had unprotected sex for the first time 2 nights ago..how long does it take to get pregnant after the shot? and how early do signs start to show? probly not 2 days? i already have a 3 yr old daughter and ive had 2 miscarriages..how will i know its safe to try for another baby?

This shot really can mess around your body. Have I had a chance to tell you, 2 yrs ago, I would have begged you to stay away from it. But then again, everybody is different and reacts differently. Though there is no proof, I blame depo for the difficulties I had earlier to get pregnant. Took me 18 months before I got my ovulations back --and I was off depo for way longer then that (I had switched to the pill). I have a friend who tried to conceive after depo and got many, many miscarriages. I know it can be difficult to conceive after depo-provera, but since it was not really studied (the shot was accepted by governement because it was well known as a cancer treatment, they didn't test it much as a contraception before accepting it as a "safe" drug) But maybe you're amongst the lucky ones -I really hope for you!
My sister-in-law took it and had NO problem at all with it. I sure hope you're like her! I'd say, try now. Maybe you'll get lucky. And before symptoms...? I dunno, I still only have fatigue and am 11 weeks preg.
I took the depo shot for 5 years. I stopped taking it for 3 months to lose some weight and got pregnant. So, for me, after 3 months.
