Anyone here taken Accutane?!

Question: I've had mild acne since I was nine years old. I'm fifteen now and I have the option of taking Accutane over the summer. None of the medications I've been on have ever done very well, but I don't have cystic acne and my skin isn't as bad as normal. I don't have any psychological or self esteem issues because I've had bad skin for so long, but I think this is my last chance to take Accutane for a while. My mom took accutane when she was 35 and was very happy with the results, but I'm terrified of the side effects and have heard of Accutane being the last resort. Is it possible that a person with mild but very persistent acne could end up worse than they were before they took it? Did anyone here have any positive experiences with it? I already know about pregnancy issues and all that, and there's no risk of me getting pregnant or drinking alcohol, so should I take Accutane?

accutane works great, i took it with good results. But you HAVE TO KEEP MOISTURIZED or what the poster above me said will be true, the side effects are not as bad as they sound... i would go for it if your acne bothers you that much,

I did accutane not because the acne bothered me that much( i had fairly mild acne too), but more so that i didn't want to develop scars from years of acne.

Also take it now if you are going to take it, the first 2 months will be the hardest cause you will break out. But after that your skin will be clear, so if you take it durring summer you'll be good for school the following year.

I personally havent taken it, but my sister did. She tried so many pills and creams and accutane was the last thing. It worked for her but then once her face got cleared up she stoped takin it but then it all came back. So you might want to talk to your doctor about how long you will have to be taking it. There are side effects with everything, just make sure about the whole pregnancy thing becasue thats a bad deal.

My friend takes it. Its terrible, the effects are worse than acne. Her face gets so dried up that everyone thinks she has a huge case of herpes since her mouth is so dried and cracked. Her nose also bleeds ALL THE TIME! One little bump will cause it to bleed everywhere. Plus you have to get tests each month to check on your kidneys or something and pregnancy tests even if you arent sexually active. It is not worth it.
