Pap smear problem?!
Question: I am going to get one, And everytime I bring it up to my boyfriend he is always like 'No, That's gross, don't do that" Is there anything I can say or do to help him not freak out like that. I would like for him to come with me. I don't know why he thinks they are so gross and nasty.

Katt, he sounds really immature. Sorry if I sound rude. A pap smear is a normal thing for girls/women and it is something u will have to do yearly for the rest of your life. Maybe you should just get your best friend to go w/ you and don't talk about it to him until he matures enough to handle it. He couldn't go in the office w/ you anyways. U need to totally get it tho. If you really want to include him, you need to explain to him exactly what it is...I mean the doc just uses a long q tip and gets some bodily fluid from you and smears it on a slide to be sent to a lab so they can look at your cells. Lots of time they will come back w/ abnormal cells, if yours does, DON'T FREAK OUT!! You will just need to go and do it again. It could be hormones or a number of things that cause a pap to come back abnormal.You know where to find me if I can help you. Hope this does!!!
Nowhere is it written that you need his permission or approval. It is none of his business.
The only thing I can think of that could possibly make him uncomfortable is if he thinks something might be found that he could have spread to you> How sure are you about that sort of thing?
It is you taking care of you. It does not concern him.
If he doesn't understand that,he is probably too immature or uneducated to partner with you.
