Oral Contraceptives and Cancer?!
Question: Ok well, I talked to a few people about this, my mom especially, and apparently you're not supposed to stay on the pill for any great lengths of time? I heard that it could increase the risk in cancer but is it that great of a risk? She strongly advizes that I wait a few more years before I seriously consider it, but I really want to start them soon for my acne and irregular periods. Plus some pills help with PMS symptoms (and I get those bad, like people want to stay a mile away from me I get that b!tchy), Sigh. What exactly are the chances that I'll get breast, ovarian, cervical, or liver cancer from taking the pill starting now? I'm 17 years old and I honest to God don't want the pill just for sexual purposes. I really want the other benefits from it (minus weight gain). Please give me your advice. Is it really worth it?
