Cramps and mood swings... Boo hoo! Please help?!

Question: Tylenol, a good DVD to watch and take your mind off things, and a sofa full of pillows. **Elevate your legs,** mindfully practice relaxing your body, and then just focus on the movie (or any passtime that will get you out of body-consciousness for a little while. And keep reminding yourself that the condition will pass.

Feel better, Maggie. I'll send good thoughts.

EDIT: Mood swings. I don't do this anymore but I've leveled off about mood swings. But, but a few years ago, I started taking oil of evening primrose (I'll email you the dosage later) from midcycle through the end of my period (and then off for 10 days or so). I did this for a few years and it made a BIG difference, I think. But you have to take it with food or it may upset your stomach. I also take 1000 mg of vitamin D and 250 mg of magnesium every night. That made a big difference in sleep and mood, too.

Take some midol drink some cranberry juice, lay down and put a heating pad on to help the cramps.

Try this. Grab a bottle of Midol and a cup of water, and go take a nap(about half an hour is good). When you wake up, take the Midol right away. Your muscles will still be relaxed and you won't have cramped up yet. If you do that, then continuosly take Midol every six hours, you won't have any cramps (or at least a lot less)!

For the mood swings, whenever you notice yourself getting upset for no reason, take a deep breath, tell yourself "There's no reason to get (angry, sad, whatever)", and if that doesn't work, take a break. If someone made you get upset and you overreacted, leave the room and cool down. If you got frustrated with someTHING, take a break from trying to do whatever it was...

Take some Tynoal,ib profrens, asprins, anything for pain will help cramps. drink some cranberry juice, lay down and put a heating pad on to help the cramps.

I agree with the others when they suggest to take Advil and such, but afterwards you should take a long, hot bubble bath. It works just like having a heating pad but for the whole body. You could listen to music in the bath, read a book, or just relax and let the bubbles do their job : )

For the mood swings you need to exercise. It releases the feel good hormones in your brain and helps depression. Try to work out as much as you can because when you stop it continues to release those chemical hormones for a while.

Definately go for a heating pad! As for the mood swings, I am a writer, so I love to write it out. When you are in a foul mood, write it out, then when you're in a better mood, read what you wrote when you were in a foul mood, then it will make you laugh at how ridiculous you sounded! LOL I love to do that. =]

Try putting on some music that makes you happy.

Turn on the TV and watch something to take your mind off of the mood swings and cramps. Maybe something like CSI (my favorite show) or the like to get your mind churning at what's going to happen next.

Hope I helped!

Oh, sometimes I massage my tummy to help with cramps, but I honestly hardly ever get cramps.
