How effective are Menstrual sponges? Are they better than tampons?!

Question: Oh god oh god dont do it. I made this mistake myself and it was not pretty. Lets just say red on white pants does not go so well. Stick with tampons.

Im sorry I dont know what a menstrual sponge is, Im guessing it absorbs blood just like a tampon does though? and is possibly reuasable. I think I wouls stick to tampons anyway :)
