It is unusual for your period to last 9 days?!

Question: I went off the pill 15 months ago. It took a while for my periods to become regular but once they did they increased in length. It went from 5 days long to 9 days long for the past 5 months. Is this unusual or could there be another problem? I was on the pill for many years and don't even remember what they were like before the pill.

Thanks in advance!

All women are different. Some lucky ones only have a period for 3 to 5 days. Some of us last 7-10 and so heavy we have to change a tampon and pad every hour and sleep on towels. My doctor has done all kinds of tests...and I am just normal....unlucky. The beauty of pills and depo.....they can make your period easier. I was on depo for 3 years. No period at all. It was wonderfulllll!!!!!! But now we are having babies, so I just deal with it. If you still fear something is not right, ask your gyn.

I'm not sure! But I've never been on the pill and dont intend to, however, my periods last 6 - 9 days =)

sure they can last that long...I dont know if you are any other kind of birth control but if you are that ia another reasson for it...check with a doctor to be sure but its normal to some people.

Yes it's more than likely normal. You could always go to your gyno though just to make sure there isn't an abnomality causing the longer bleeding.

Mine usually last between 5-9 days.

My periods jump all around but I've never had one last 9 days. I guess the only problem I can see with it is the potential to become anemic if your flow is very heavy. Keep a period diary (for lack of a better word!) if you want to track things. It might help your doctor determine if you're losing too much blood each month.

I think that's probably normal for you. Each woman's cycle will vary from person to person and sometimes month to month. Mine normally run 4-5 days, but for the past two months, they have only been 2-3 days. I guess you just never know what AF is going to do! But, I don't think you have anything to worry about. That is probably just your normal cycle now.
