Birth Control against pregnancy?!

Question: I've been on birth control for close to 7 years now. I was wondering, when I want to start trying to a child, how long does it normally take for the birth control to stop working? I've heard it could take months, if not a year for the birth control to stop having an effect. Is this true?

UMMM IT ALL DEPENDS ON YOUR BODY...ALL WOMAN ARE DIFFERENT!!! SOME MAY GET PREGNANT THE FIRST MONTH AFTER STOPPING BIRTH CONTROL SOME MAY TAKE A BIT LONGER...BUT I KNOW THAT IF YOUR ON THE DEPO SHOT THAT TAKES ABOUT 6 MONTHS OR UP TO A YEAR TO CONCEIVE!!...

PERSONALLY ME I BEEN TAKING BIRTH CONTROL FOR ALMOST ABOUT 8 YEARS AND I HAVE TRIED MOST OF THEM PILLS,THE PATCH,THE SHOT,CONDOMS,AND NOW I'M ON THE RING(NUVA RING)...I WAS PLANNING IN CONCEIVING LAST DECEMBER AND JANUARY...BUT I HAD NO LUCK..BUT THAT DOESN'T KEEP MY HOPES FROM TRYING AGAIN,MAYBE ONCE I FIND A GOOD MAN!!!

My friend went off of it and within a month she was prego. Which birth control are you on? My friend was on the pill.

i'm pretty sure it varies for a lot of people. i hear stories of people who had been successful within a month and some couples trying for a year just like you said. i dunno what to tell you. talk to your doctor- only time will tell! good luck!

Well, technically you could get pregnant ON birth control, so you could get pregnant immediately after coming off birth control, or it could take 6 months to a year.
