Tampons or Pads?!

Question: OK, so I just got my first period, and i discovered that i have a really heavy flow. It's leaked through my pants more than one time at school, and i'm using pads. I was wondering if I should use tampons instead?, and if so, what kind???

it's worth trying tampons because you realise when you start using them that life becomes so much easier when you use them. hardly ever any leaks, so you don't spend your time feeling conscious that you might have leaked. they are so much comfier - you can't feel them once they're in! more hygenic, don't smell, better when playin sport.
it will probably take a few attempts before you can start using them properly. start with the lowest absorbancy and wear a pad with it, and if it leaks before the recommended 4-8 hours time to leave the tampon inserted, move up to the next absorbancy level until you find the right one for you. then you wont have to wear pads too.
everyone is different, but i tend to wear lilets tampax because they are good quality and small and comfy. but try a few different makes to find the one for you. you have to be patient as things won't just happen over night. good luck. x

use both thats what i do when its really heavy.
:) and get the super ones the absorb alot

use tamax pearl
tampons all the way

pads leak and smeel bad.

yeah use tampons
probably a super

when i first started my period i had the same problem. I started using tampons and using a panty liner for protection. worked great for me :D

Good luck with everything and have a wonderful day?

tampon with a pantiliner

I have always used pads. If your periods are heavy try the extra padded ones which absorb more. I had the same problem and have found the Always ones work the best.

Since this is the first time you have got your period I recommend you buy a pad designed to tackle heavy bleeding. Normally the packaging indicates if it is for heavy bleeding. I think you can start using tampons in a year or two... once you learn how to deal with your period better

you should try the super tampons and also wear a light pad that should help! happy periods!!!

I've never used a tampon but there is no doubt that they are better. If you're uncomfortable with the idea, buy and use overnight pads because they are longer and much more heavy duty. :) God bless!

If your period is very heavy, I suggest both. Since you're just starting out, try a slender to regular tampon, and an overninght pad, but don't leave the tampon in longer than four hours since it's so heavy.

I use Playtex. They work well for me. You'll have to figure out what's best for you, though. Just try a bunch of different kinds, while wearing pantyliners or pads to prevent "accidents."

I have always had to use both during the heavy days of my period. Also, make sure you change them AT LEAST every 4 hours no matter if you think it needs changed or not.

Either one, really. Just remember to change them often.

Personally, I like tampons better. Playtex gentle glide are the best. :D

Just use pads for the begining because tampons can be difficult. Be sure to change your pad between hours.

try the pads with the wings for extra protection, i had the same problem....and DONT let it flow!

god bless you :)

I also use both when I'm very heavy. I use Playtex brand in regular absorbency. You can also buy a box with Super, Regular and light. I get those sometimes as well. Good luck!

Always longs is good. If you are just starting your period. Tampax has slender tampons.

tampax pearl tampons by day -backed up with a pad, and use pads at night. just make sure you are changing the tampons frequently. like every 2-4 hours depending on your flow.

I have a really heavy flow to but I use pads because tampons are uncomfortable. Just use overnight pads and change your pad regularly.
Good Luck!

You can use thin tampons during the heaviest days of your flow, but tampons left in can make you ill. So I only used them for 1 or 2 days during my period so that I wouldn't leak. Flowing onto a pad is healthier. Whichever, change every few hours to keep fresh.

Tampons are better I think just as long as you don't leave them in too long and just as long as you're not afraid to put them in - You can always experiment with different kinds of tampons - i would go with a plastic applicator and i would try a "light" tampon first - but get some "heavy" tampons too -It says it on the front of the box. Also you might want to use pads when you get to the end of your period where you're just bleeding a little bit - not enough to bleed through.

I would highly recommend using tampons. Personally, I think pads are hygenically gross. I mean, really think about it. I won't go into detail. But tampons are the better choice in my opinion, especially if you've got a heavy flow.

tampons! i love kotex multi packs you get regular super and super heavy. you will be able to tell if you are leaking and usually you'll know before it gets through your jeans. good luck sweetie.

use pads for a while and gradually start using tampons. use a pantiliner

If your heavy flow makes you uncomfortable or smells really bad, I would suggest using tampons simply because they are 100000x better than pads in every way. BUT if you do use tampons (wear a pad too just incase) and you bleed onto the pad make sure, make sure, make sure you change them regularly or else you could potentially get TSS (toxic shock syndrome). This is really uncommon if you change your tampon regularly and you shouldn't be scared of using tampons because of this. Also, get unscented ones and don't get super plus just super (it will help reduce the possibility of TSS). Hope this helps and congrats!!

Stick a Clean rag up there use some duct tape. and wear a old persons diaper

tampons & pads that away if you cant change ur tampon in time you have the pad to back u up. tampax pearl super is the best... i dont like the scented kind..they have a real distinct smell that is obvious to any1 around
good luck <3

i just started on sunday and i started using tampons yesterday! they are muchh better than pads! but wear a panty liner in case u dont put it in right..tampons dont make u loose ur virginity or what not.

I use tampons during the day and pads when I'm sleeping. They make really big tampons that prevent it from leaking through your pants. But the biggest excuse I hear as to why people don't use tampons it because the can feel them. You should not feel it!!!!! I use tampons all tampons all the time...it is one of those things that practice makes perfect. The first few times I put mine in I could feel it. To be honest with you I was really confused because I didn't read the instruction so I just put it in with out pushing it in and got up and decide that couldn't be right! LOL:) Dumb I know but it can be a confusing thing. The best advice I can give you is to thoroughly read the instructions they tell you exactly how to do it. If that doesn't help then make sure you are pushing it far enough up into you before you push the tampon out. I knew when I first started using mine the actual tampon wasn't far enough in and I could feel it. Good luck:) Hope this helps. Just be smart if you use tampons and don't keep them in too long.

niether just let it flowwwwww
