Women and their constant talk about their periods!?!

Question: Ok, I am a chick who can not stand when women talk about their periods. I don't know why. I mean, I am a woman, and I am a nurse, so you'd think I would be used to dealing with that sort of thing. The things that bother me about it:

1. When women go into detail about it. (Cramps, heaviness, duration...)

2. When they bring it up for NO reason at all. We can be talking about something unrelated and they will find a way to say something about 'starting' or whatever!

To me, my period is something I will deal with for the rest of my life. My boyfriend does not want to know about it, my friends, don't, it's just TMI!

So finally, my question:

Is anyone else offended by this? Whether you are a man, or woman, please respond.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I especially HATE people who for no reason at all think its an appropriate lunch or dinner conversation starter! It is at that point that I just want to scream. I don't care...we have periods...but do we really need to be so darn graphic? It is way TMI.

Yes, especially the ones that act like they're the only one who ever felt all the things that go along with this natural function.

i agree with you about how they just bring it up out of no where, i hate that!

and you dont have to deal with your period the rest of you life you get menopause at like 50 or 55 duhh

It's a "sisterhood" ritual -- a female bonding type of thing.

I'm not offended by it per se, maybe they don't have anything else interesting to talk about. Or they're looking for common ground for a conversation. I can think of lots of other things to talk about.

I have a male cousin that's my age. All you have to do is say tampons, pads or period and he weirds out (always has...even as a teenager) and physically get ill. So, I'm with you....Guys really don't want to hear about your cycle.

I am not offended no.. If you are so offended, just walk away. NO big deal.

I reakon most women talk about so they can compare to make sure their normal

Well, now you're talking about it right now.

I'm not offended. But I'm not sure it's a great topic of conversation for a large public gathering. Like in a movie theater, "Hey. Did you enjoy Will Ferrell in "Semi-Pro"? Me too, even though I've had a strong menstrual flow this month and it's particularly pungent." *LOL*

Nope, not offended... because the only people I talk to about my period are my family (mum and sisters) or close friends... it's as normal as having sore muscles or an aching neck. It's just part of life and being female - do you get annoyed when people talk about being pregnant, or the woes associated with that? Similar thing, really...

i'm quite young, so maybe it's different, but my friends don't really talk about it (we're past the first period obsession).
i don't mind knowing if someone has pains, or needs a tampon, because you can help out- paracetamol etc., but i really don't need to know some of the intimate details!
it's sort of good when you first start to talk about it, but after that it's just really, really boring.

I am not offended, but I don't want to hear about it all the time. We all get it and have to deal with it. Some women swear they have the worst cramps ever. i don't mind when my 13 year old daughter talks to me about it. Thats what I am here for, and I don't mind if a co- worker tells me she has bad cramps ( this is a female warning) that ya don't feel that great. But I can do without all the other information.

I agree with you.......this constant talk / complaining about periods is driving me NUTS!!!

We as women have to deal with this for most of our lives.......do we really need to keep discussing it over & over & over????

Give it a rest ladies!!!
