Is normal to bleed practically all the time with the implanon in???!

Question: I have the birth control implanon inserted in my arm for the last year and a half, for the first year I bled nearly all the time but for fear of getting pregnant i put up with it, then just after the year my bleeding started to regulate somewhat, but now again im bleeding for a week then nothing sometimes its kinda heavy and sometimes its just when i wipe after going loo. I just want to know is there anybody else out ther that this has happend to wile using the implanon?? with out using this my period was like clock work..thanks

Im sorry to say but yes cos i have the exact same problem....What do you think should we get it out but demand something straight away....thats what im going to do

Yep.

Unpredictable bleeding patterns are a side effect of implanon.

Hey i have the implanon too!

I have had a completely different experience, every person does it would appear. I have not had a period since it went in. I had it put in Dec 2006. I hear that a lot of women get heavy bleeding for the first year, then it works itself out. I dont think could have put up with that for that long. Have you tried the injection? Bloody birth control hum? Its a nightmare!!!

That's what happened to me & my sister, we both had them removed eventually because the constant bleeding got too much. My doctor suggested to me that I take the oral contraceptive as well to regulate the bleeding but I didn't want to have 2 lots of hormones pumped into me so I had it removed.

All progesterone only methods of contraception tend to produce dysfunctional ( irregular ) uterine bleeding. In most, but not all patients, it settles within 6 months or less. I thing you have tried to put up with the fact that the implant is not for you, for too long already, go chat to your GP/Family planning clinics about alternatives.
