Tips while on a long flight with your period?!

Question: I'm flying from the US to the UK (about an 8 hour flight) tomorrow and I've just started my period for this month. It is usually heavy the first few days and I have to go to the bathroom and change my pad/tampon often.

So my questions is -- What are some tips for while on the airplane to ensure no leaks and not having to change my pad/tampon every hour (I've never flown while I've had my period)?!

I already plan on wearing black pants so that if there is a leak it will be less noticeable.

Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

make sure you have a pocket/purse/bag that you can discreetly carry a pad/tampon to the bathroom in. planes are small, and they seem even smaller when you're thousands of feet in the air.
clearly- super tampon+maxi pad seems like a good idea! lol. make sure you don't fall asleep for too long- if you're flying with someone, ask them to wake you every two hours or something.
take wipes to freshen up with, and maybe a clean pair of pants- remember you're going to be at very close quarters with everyone!
most importantly- don't stress out! half the passengers will be women, and we've all been through a few million 'awkward periods'. good luck.

You could try wearing more than one pad, so if it is heavy then you won't leak too easily :)

I've used a superplus tampon and worn a super pad at the same time. Change/clean up just before boarding the plane and don't be embarssed to use the b-room on the plane after about 4-5 hours.

hahha wear a tampon and 3 pads!!!

If I had to go an extra long time with this problem..I would insert a tampon and put on a pad the size of a surfboard. I never had any accidents..so guess it is a working combination.

Make sure your black pants are comfy... nothing worse than a long flight with your period and tight pants!!!

Wear (in my opinion) track pants that are a bit baggier... that way you can wear a pad... tampons to me aer always uncomfortable when Im flying and if it's a long flight (I live in Australia so all flights overseas are long!!) it's easy to fall asleep and forget about a tampon - ew!

So yeah - change your pad often, wear baggier pants so they dont get too tight and uncomfortable...

Have fun in the UK!

sit on a towel to save the seat from staining! If anyone asks, just say you find the seats too hard. Also wear a bigger tampon o absorb more. I wear the biggest on the market, so unfortunately I can't get over this one!

noone notices if you use the bathroom twice on a plane but 3 strikes and someone might think u hav a bladder problem

some of the friends i know uses diapers and it works. there are also pads that are available in the shop for heavy flow or the pad for night time is good too just ask in the shop. since i don't have experience heavy flow i always bring wipes (baby wipes) to clean my bottom every pad change it's not only clean but feels refreshing too. bon voyage!

wear one of those adult dipers
no one will no,

wear a heavier tampon and a heavy pad and an adult diaper if you feel you must carry extras
and dont drink much fluids some times the extra blood is water
