You: I need some girly things.
Mom: Great, Here's a ten spot. Pick me up a pack of smokes.
do you already have supplies? if you are using hers, just let her know that you need to add "pads" to the shopping list. and as for not being close...you now have something in common with her. it is never too late to work on a relationship.

when i told my mom she was so happy.
she called my grandmas and all my aunts
and embarassed the crap out of me.
she wont care, its natural, and she'll help you out.
she can definately relate.
Maybe dont tell her straight out right, try hinting, like rubbing your tummy or keep telling her you have cramps. Its gunna be quite difficult no matter how you go about it, especially if you arent' that close, but Im sure she'll be understanding and supportive towards you ... after all, she's been through it herself.
you cant get her aside like when your shopping with your mom and tell her youve become a lady and you need some advice from her.? do that,she wount get mad,so youre not close ,but still your her daughter,tell her please!
umm... wow. find a private place and just tell her. you'll be happy you did. im not close to mine either, especially when it comes to growing up. but i just told her even with my little sister and older brother. (not around of corse) just do it as soon as posiable. say mom, i think i just got my period... got anything i can use (even if you already have something). just a way to connect.

if you are worried about your brothers dont be its a normal thing they're gonna get used to it anyway...
but at least tell someone you know so if you hav any questions ask them

when yor shopping with her grab a package of pads and she'll probably understand - and if yor brothers are there, theyll probably be embarrased and/or they wont know what it is, or not even care
