her birth canal is expanding to allow the baby to pass through. She needs better nutrition to allow the tissues to grow and to expand without so much pain. There are other explanations too - pressure on the bladder, kidneys and other internal organs as the baby grows, and stretching of the lower abdomen to allow for that growth. Her whole body has to change, she needs a wide variety of food to help cope with it.
however, pain in the lower abdomen at that stage of pregnancy can be cause by other things, such as uneven stretching of the uterus, possibly even leading to a tear in the uterine wall - very bad when it comes time to give birth - or it could be uterine prolapse - where the uterus has slipped downward in the body. it could also be an infection. she should be examined for these possiblities to rule them out before being dismissed.

sorry, but it's VAGINAL..

first off find another ob that is going to give better answers than that. It could be from a number of things.
it could be contractions
it could be pressure from the baby positioning
it could be from a u t i
my advice to you is to seek a better answer than what the doctor told you.
