Birth control and sex?!

Question: I am 16 and want to have sex, (when I get a boyfriend) am I to young, I REALLY feel ready. And I am not a slut I would at least date them for a year before we do anything. Should I ask my mom if I should go on birth control now (even though I am not having sex now because I don't have a man?!) Should I go on Birth control???

You should go on birth control even though you aren't having sex yet. I was only 14 when I asked my mom if I should go on it, and she was actually waiting for me to ask. It will make her more at ease. Just make sure you're ready, make sure you know his past sexual history (if he has any STD'S), and use a condom too!!

I would suggest not. Especially since you have said you will wait a year after meeting the guy and you said you weren't with anyone now. You will want to stay on birth control when you're first married up until you're ready to have kids and the longer you are on birth control the harder it is to have kids. So you should only be on it when you need to be. My doctor said that if you are on birth control for longer than 10 years it can start to affect your ability to conceive a child. If you don't want kids than it really doesn't matter but it is better keep your body natural since it is unnecessary to go on it now.

You only need to be on birth control regularly for one month before you can have sex without a second form of birth control so I would suggest going on it one month before you are ready.

But don't have sex just because you really want to and you think you are ready. Wait until you love the person you are with. You might regret it later on... I sure do.

if you are planning on having sex, and don't want the responsibility of an unplanned pregnancy, then yes, i would get on bc
