Ladies, which Birth Control is best to prevent pregnancy for 5 years or so.?!

Question: I am getting married in August, and having children is something we don't want for atleast 5-6 years or so. I want to know of any good Birth Control that will help me achieve this plan. Do you ladies have any suggestions? Any personal experiences? Of course, if God send us a child, then we are going to love him or her so much, but we want to travel together, keep going to school, etc... Thanks in advance ladies!!

Well, if you are getting married in august, the best option would probably be the pill. All pills work great as long as taken at the same exact time daily, set an alarm if needed. However, you need to get in gear b/c all take some time to go into effect and level out. You can have breakthrough bleeding/bleeding between periods when beginning birth control so you need to get going to get everything level. Also, the same pill doesn't work for all, so they may have to try a couple to find one that works good for you. Normally, it takes 3-4 months to fully regulate on a pill. Then if you have abnormal reactions like increased cramping and bleeding during your period they may need to change it.

I think the pill is the best option. I have been on it for five years and have been sexually active and have not been pregnant. It's important, however, to take it everday at roughly the same time to insure it's effectiveness. There are other forms of contraception such as the Depo-Provera shot and the Nuva-ring and patch, but I've heard of women having more unwanted side effects with those.

the pill is good. so is the shot (last 3 months, and you don't have to think about it every day). there's also IUDs that can be implanted for that period of time. talk to your doctor. there's alot of choices out there. it's up to you which is the best one for you. :)
