Advice Regarding Birth Control?!

Question: Hi,

I'm in search for a new form of birth control. I haven't been on any for the past year and half and I just started ortha tri cyclien lo, and I'm bleeding consistently with blood clogs. I had this problem before with depo, causing me to switch to the ortha, but I had never had this problem when I took this pill a year and a half ago. So now I want to switch once again, because having irregular bleeding is not an option for me. Do anybody have any advice regarding a birth control that work for them and didn't cause irregular bleeding? I would like to know of some before I visit the doctor tomorrow. I'm thinking about trying yaz; is that a good choice? I was on the patch before and it made me sick after every period, so I'm not interested in the patch.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi there. I think you should wait at least two to three months to see if those irritating symptoms subside. That's what my gyno has always told me anyway. You could very well have the same problem with the next pill until your body is used to it. I too was on Depo and HATED it. It made me gain weight and I bled ALL the time. I also take ortho tricyclen lo and experienced the irregular bleeding but it did go away. I have no issues with it at all now. I've heard really good things about Yaz but unfortunately my insurance wont cover it yet so I dont know from personal experience. Funny how insurance covers Viagra with no problems but I cant get the birth control of my choice! Good luck and I hope you find the right pill for you!

hi there. Ive been on many different birth control ,methods. The best ive had is The IUD. The doctor puts it in at the office, and depending on which on you get (hormone free 5 years, or no hormones 10 years) you have different side effects. The five year IUD causes spottiing for a month, and then you don't get your period(which seemed wonrg to me) I have the ten year. No hormones, no worrying about missing the pill etc. Its wonderful. ANd the second its removed fertility returns immediatly in most cases(with the hormone free) so i hope this helps! I was on nuva ring, and I switched doctors, and he refused to give me the nuva ring(one reason was I that I got pregnant on nuva ring) and it can cause cervical cancer. ALOT of doctors won't perscribe it because of the concentraion of hormones at the cervix. Just be careful about this one...alot of friends I know got pregnant on nuva ring as well......

The same thing happened to me but i was on the depo, and continued to bleed, got off and got on ortho cyclen and haven't had any problems since..only time i get irregular bleeding is if i continue to miss pills daily in a row but other than that..they were fine..so ask ur doctor about ortho cyclen..not lo or tri just ortho cyclen...good luck..and i got off about a month ago because im trying for a little one!!!

The same thing happened with me when I was on Ortho Tricyclin. I just got off of Yaz though, b/c I had some pretty terrible side effects (headaches, fatigue, nausea, acne, mood swings, etc...). BUT I know a lot of girls who really really like Yaz, but I guess my body chemistry isn't right for it. I was also on Trinessa for a while but had a lot of break through bleeding with it as well. I'd give Yaz a try-like I said, I know a lot of people who really like it, but for some reason I couldn't tolerate it. Good luck!!

Talk to your dr about the NuvaRing...great product. I havent had any issues with it.
