Dull pain in left side of pelvis?!
Question: I can't remember how long I have been getting this but it has been for at least a month now. I get every now and then a sharp pain in the left side of my pelvis which can last for days. There seems to be no pattern to the pain it does not seem to be period related though for the last two months my periods have been coming in a couple of days earlier than usual and have gone from being three days long to now being two days and although there are not light periods they are definately not as heavy as they used to be. It does not seem to be related to eating and my bowel movements haven't changed any that I have noticed. The only other time in my life I have ever had pain like this was when I was pregnant with my last child and at first the doctors suspected an eptopic pregnancy but thankfully it wasn't the case. We did think of pregnancy and last month did a home test that came back negative and like I said I have been getting my periods. Any ideas anyone!?!?

Hi;
This pains are usually not morbid. First of all you have to get it checked by a speciallist. Get an USG first. It nearly always diagnosis what is wrong with it. You say left so it can't be apendisitis. But probably it is becouse of your ovary or salphinks(tuba). There is a lot of posibilities that can cause that kind of pain. Most seen of it ecthopic pregnancy. But you say that you had a test so iti is not it. And also a tuboovarian tumor can cause that kind of pain. But it is usually related with older ages so it is not the proper diognosis for you. (but don't forget that it has a very small posiblity) So there is not much to say it can be a poly cystic ovary syndrome but it causes much more bleeding and hirsutism, it can be foliculoma which is a folliculus that couldn't be able to hatch and couldn't be able to go to your uterus and gone bigger than normal size and make the ache. And like this there is a lot of possibilities. Without looking with USG it is very hard to say anything. And also there is a little possibility that your pain doesn't come from your genital organs. It can come from your intestines. What about your defecation. Is it regular or what. So as I say before it is very hard to dianose you from here. You have to be examined. Pelvis is a very complicated place that contains a lot of small organs or small parts of organs. Very dull but your pain could be caused by an urethelial defect or a kidney stone. So USG is the best ansver for you. Don't worry this kind of things can easly be treated.
Hope you get well soon.
