you can get it at any age, and it's not uncommon at all.
Kids get it spontaneously, adults can get also get it spontaneously. You can also get it after abdominal surgery, after child birth, or if you do a lot of really heavy lifting without using a supportive belt. Both males and females can have it.
It can only be fixed with surgery, but the surgery is very common and routine, so there's nothing to be scared about.

You can have one at any age. I had one when I was 8 years old. I had to have surgery. I still remember the pain.
BOTH MALES & FEMALES CAN GET THEM. THERE ARE SEVERAL TYPES OF HERNIAS CAUSED BY A WEAKNESS IN THE MUSCLES WHICH LETS YOUR INSIDES POOCH OUT ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU COUGH OR STAND UP. MOST DISAPPEAR WHEN LYING DOWN. THEY CAN HAPPEN AFTER SURGERY-LIKE A C-SECTION OR FROM LIFTING HEAVY OBJECTS OR EVEN A CONGENITAL WEAKNESS OF THE MUSCLES-SO EVEN BABIES CAN HAVE THEM.
ya anyone can have it, i had mine i think when i was born... but the docs couldnt do anything till i was 6...i have no idea why
