I think I might be getting my period. Im kind of scared.?!

Question: it sounds stupid, but my mom and all my sisters have really bad periods. Im scared that it hurts.

Anyway, Im almost 13, and I started puberty about 2 years ago. Sorry to go in to gross detail, but I am finding mucus in my underwear. My doctor said I was healthy, but that did not really answer my question. I have cramps, I am really moody, and I am sore. I would ask my mom but its too embarassing.

Also: What do I do if I get it at school, and I like, bleed through?????

Thanks.
PS~ Dont tell me Im stupid, cuz I feel like I am already

Aww you're not stupid!

Bring pads and extra clothes with you at school, and I think you will notice something is happening before you bleed through. And if you do bleed through, although is seems embarrassing, it happens!

Even though you are embarrassed to talk to your mom, I think it will help.

DONT WORRY ITS NATURAL KEEP A PAD IN UR SKOOLBAG INCASE

dont worry. that happened to me the first time.
well all you do is wear a pad.
NOT TAMPONS. until you have sex.
lol. it'll open bigger or something. lol.
but yea. dont worry. just wear pads for a while.
& change it like every few hours.
so no infections or staining.
get pads with wings. waaay better.
GOOD LUCK :)

just pack extra clothes dont let it catch offguard. sounds like you are going to get it.

I didn't get my first period until 2 years after I started getting mucus. Everyone is different, and you're not stupid, your just a bit nervous about what might happen, and thats totally normal. Take some advil (or a drug like it) for your cramps (if you feel like you need them- they will help the soreness too). Dealing with moodiness is just something you have to learn how to do- unfortunately, theres no drug for that one. Bring some pads with you to school, and trust me, you will KNOW when your period starts, and you won't bleed through if you make it to a bathroom as soon as you can after you've noticed its started. good luck

Everyone gets nervous but you have to tell your mom and you will feel much better about it. it really is no big deal cause it happens to all girls

i got mine when i was 12 and like sometimes ur stomach will hurt and if you think ur gonna get it, wear a pad bc i do that when i'm supposed to get mine otherwise i freak out at school. lol

It's weird the first time! I was at school and it was fine, i didn't bleed through. It sounds like you might get it soon. Be prepared and keep sanitary towels in your bag. Sometimes if i got cramps but hadn't actually come on my period rght then i would wear a towel anyway, no risk of bleeding through then!

I get cramps but i just take paracetomol and have a hot water bottle when it gets bad which really helps. Moods are inevitable just try to get through it. It's a scary at first but you'll get used to it, and it's all part of growing up.

Pretty soon you'll know yourself inside out and you'll know when it will happen! Don't be embarrassed about asking your Mom or Sisters, remember they've all been there and all girls talk to each ther about these things.

Good Luck Hun hope this helps

If u bleed at school, tie a jacket around ur waist and try not to take big strides. Happened to me. In front of a guy that I liked, thankfully he didn't notice. But I was so embarrassed! the mucus, or discharge is completely normal. but if it has a green tint and smells strongly, u may have an infection. As for the cramps, crab a hot ater bottle and lay it over ur tummy. Taking a hot shower or bath just to relax really helps the soreness and fatigue. Just make sure u also get a good nights rest every night and don't eat salty or sugary foods before ur period because it will make u bloat. Every woman has a period and it is a part of life. so make sure you take pride in becoming a woman, (even if it hurts a bit) and try to pay more attention to your schoolwork or boys. I know that helped me!

You aren't stupid, but don't they teach you this in sex ed?

13 is the average..ish, age to get your period for the first time. What you're finding in you underwear is not mucus, but vaginal discharge. Now that you've started getting it, you'll get it for pretty much the rest of your life. It's not fun, but no real harm comes from it aside from feeling a little wet. The discharge is white, correct? It usually starts to come around a year before you get your first period, and will gradually build up for that year until your first period comes.

Cramps.. What kind of cramps? There are many kinds, and so many things can cause them. Can you somewhat relate them to diarrhea crams? If so, those are menstrual (period) cramps for sure.

Moody, definitely a sign! If you randomly go off on people or get randomly depressed, or get upset over tiny things, that's a normal part of puberty.

Sore.. where? Breasts, thighs, lower back? If any of those places are sore, again, definitely a sign.

Hm, periods hurt, yes, I won't lie, but I'm not sure if it hurts in the way you're thinking. There is no discomfort to your vagina, other than the fact that you can feel it when the blood/lining comes out, but it's not bad. The pain from menstruation is usually cramps, sore breasts, and sometimes lower back or thigh pain. You can sometimes get headaches from it as well.

At school, chances are, you'll be wearing a pad. You should change them at least every 2-3 hours, or just simply if it gets too full, or even feels too full but you aren't sure. If it does leak through, don't panic because if people hadn't seemed to notice, they will once you panic. If it does and you feel it or your friend tells you or something, just ask your teacher if you can talk to him/her in private for a minute. Tell him/her what happened, and (s)he will let you call your mom or dad or anyone who can bring you another pair of pants. Don't worry about being embarrassed, especially if you have a male teacher. Teachers are all mature, won't think any differently of you about it, and will most definitely not tell anyone what's going on without your permission.

Things you should take with you to school (or any public place) would be: Pads/liners/tampons (whichever you choose to use), maybe an extra pair of underwear, a Midol or two, and if possible, an extra pair of pants (if worst case scenario happens).

Hope I helped. Good luck.
