Tampon help! It just doesn't go in. Help?!

Question: I know everyone is sick of us new period starters, but the first time is extremely nerve-racking!!! I've read somewhere, maybe on here, to insert a finger just to get the hang of it, so i did when i wasn't on my period. It completely curves inward!! If my finger was straight, I'd imagine it would hurt! Also, i just try pressing the tampon against the hole, it just doesn't go in - the hole is way too small! I'm completely lost, and i need tampons for swimming, sports, and i know they're more comfortable than pads. HELP ME!

Try slim ones, or OB tampons, which don't have an applicator, so they would be easier to fit to your body. If you can get an finger in, you can get a tampon. Also, if it isn't lubricated, you can get a lot of friction, which can make it feel like it won't go in. Try using KY jelly or some other lubricant on the tip and sides of the applicator, then try.

Make a doctor's appointment and meanwhile use pads.

Are you using the slim fits tampons?

Just stick the tampon applicator in and go over that bump and straight in. It is okay everyone has troubles the first time.

But practice makes perfect. lol

i heard that if you stand up it is easier and hurts less

but if that doesnt work i no it might seem awkward but ask ur mom and if nothing happens then u might need to go to the doctor

but yeah they are way more comfortable and i no how nervewracking it is to do it for the first time..

hope i helped

I was in your place a while ago. Make sure your using slim ones. I was trying to jam my moms super absorbancy ones up in there and it obviously didn't work. Put a dab of water-based lubricant on the tip of the tampon. A good brand is KY Jelly. It can make all the difference in the world. Also, remember to relax. It's SO hard to insert a tampon when all your muscles are tightened. Take a few deep breaths before inserting. Some people find it easier to insert a tampon with one foot on the toilet seat. Others like to sit down. Try both to see what your most comfortable with. And remember your not alone. Every tampon-user was at this stage before. I'm sure nearly everyone got the hang of it eventually. Practice makes perfect.
Good luck!
