Tampons and swimming?!?!?!

Question: okay so ive been using tampons for about a month ot two and i am comfortable about wearing them they dont hurt or anything but sometimes even with the highest absorbancy ones they leak a little. i know im inserting them right and pushing them in far enough but im worried this will happen when i go swimming one day when i have my period. when i wear tampons i usually wear a liner with it just in case but obviously i cant do that when im swimming. i have black bathers and i always wear boardshorts but im still worried it might leak and people will see it. what should i do?

if it only leaks a little bit, it shouldn't be noticeable. and it probably only leaks a bit over an extended period of time. you probably aren't going to be in the pool for 4 hours straight... but even if you are, it should leak slow enough for the water to dilute it to invisible before it gets past your suit.

try taking a bath with a tampon in if you're not sure. if you can't see it in the tub, you won't see it in a pool.

I always feel uncomfortable going swimming while i have my periods..so i just avoid is as much as i can

i dont swim when i am on my period. i worry about the same thing.

try a bigger tampon and put on a new one right before you go swimming. if you're so heavy that you're even leaking through supers within the hour, you should talk to a doctor, because your period doesn't have to be that bad. a tampon should last 2-3 hours normally, but even if it doesn't, you can get up and change it anytime.

wear 2 tampons

Change it more often that day.

If they leak, switch more often!

Make sure you are changing your tampon frequently enough, if you wear one too lokng they will leak. You really shouldn't have a problem going swimming though.

Periods and water don't mix sister... I was in a pool party once and well you know how the rest goes...

But in the beach you might be able to pull it off!

maybe you leave them in for to long?
tampons are like the best invention everrrr :)
leave them in for around 2-3 hours when heavy, and 3-4 when light
and swimming shold be fine, i do it all the time.

I know a lot of girls who do. If you're not on a heavy day it should be fine. I bet this sounds weird coming from a guy but girls do it all the time here. lol.

It will be OK, go ahead and go swimming. You won't leak or anything.

don't worry. everything will be fine. if they do leak....they should only leak a little bit so it wouldn't even be noticeable.

Your period actually stops whilst in water, so it won't happen. If it did, it'd get washed away anyway.

Do NOT put in 2 tampons. As somebody else said, put one in right before you get in the water and you'll be fine.

T.

you are prolly leaving it in too long for your flow if you are leaking. but when you swim on your period with a tampon in, the tampon gets wet from the water and actually leaks less.

I've never had a probelm when wearing a tampon swimming. Water probably will be absorbed, but just find a restroom and change it as soon as you get out of the water. Don't worry, as long as you don't take forever getting to a restroom, you aren't going to have any noticable leakage.

i do swim on my period, dont let it rule you! anyhow, is the tampon full when it is leaking or just leaking? while submerged in water you do not bleed out, it would just be the getting out that might cause a problem if it is just leaking. if it keeps getting full then you just have a heavier period than you think and should change them more often. ps. dont use the highest absorbency if you dont need them. leads to issues. says so on the box so i am sure you know.

use a larger tampon. then it can absorb more blood and u wont have leakages. ull be fine

it's better if you use pad instead of tampon..this is because using tampon need more attention in the matter of hygiene..but it's up to you..if you use pad, you don't have to worry to go swimming.this is because, the blood won't be lot.it's about the pressure..i don't really know how to explain it.it more to physics as I'm very weak in physics LOL...you just don't have to be worry.i used to swim even during my period.and guest what, there is so LITTLE blood on my pad. and it not leak at all..but remember to change it as soon as you finished swimming!! you can wear pad and swimming without any worries.but MUST change your pad after swim.
