Just had sex wanting to go on the pill. HELP!?!

Question: Okay I recently had sex with my boyfriend and I decided I wanted to go on the pill. The only problem is I am got sure who to turn to; I don't want to tell anyone in my family I am having sex and any free clinics near me I would need a ride to and then would have to explain why I needed to go there. I don't know alot about the pill like how do I know which one to use and can I get over the counter type? I'm scared, I don't know who to turn to. Please help.

I'd suggest going to a planned parenthood/free clinic by a taxi, etc. It's completely confidential, and will work with your individual income, not billing your insurance.

Go to plannedparenthood.org if you live in the States to find one close by. They are super helpful, and will advise you on what to get. Unfortunately there are no over-the-counter birth control pills, though you can get the 72 hour/morning after/PlanB pill at some pharmacies without a doctor's prescription.

You're doing a good thing by protecting yourself from unwanted pregnancies, and places that provide free birth control are very willing to help and know that you will be nervous. Best of luck.

damn how young are you?

get a bus or taxi. Your gp can prescribe it. U cant get it over the counter, u need prescription.

if you're not old enough to drive yourself to the clinic/doctor to get on birth control than you're not old enough to be having sex.

go to your school and see if they have a health nurse, the nurse can set you up with a sexual health nurse who can get you birth control.

Maybe you should be honest with your family and tell them you're having sex and want birth control.

Either way they're going to find out, if you're not using birth control you'll get pregnant which is way worse than admitting you're sleeping around.

the only OTC are condoms, spermicides, and sponges.
You can't get the morning after/plan B because you need to be 18 and I doubt you are.

As a mother, I can promise you that your mother would rather you turn to her now than when you are pregnant. I don't believe in pre-martial sex for many reasons, and I would be very upset with my daughter, but I would get her on birth control before I would have a teenage pregnancy.

You can write her a letter if you don't feel comfortable talking to her. Or maybe you have an aunt or older cousin you can talk to?

OK relax... look go to your doctor alone ... and tell her you want the birth control pill... ask for Yasmin... its the best one... OH and look maybe you should have a talk with your parents about sex... i mean how old are you?

PS.. tell your mom your sick and if she can take you to the doctor.. she doesn't have to follow you in .. right? ..... Ohh and whats wrong with using condoms for the time being?

you could tell your mom your having really bad cramps and tylenol and midol dont work for you, then maybe suggest the pill. or you can tell her you might be thinking abotu having sex and you just want to be protected just in case. if you have a close relationship with your mom, she wont have a problem with it.

well the easiest way i think would be to get a cab maybe to the clinic where you can get the pil. They will ask you a series of questons about yourself that help determine which type of pill to put you on. And you dont have to worry about them contacting your parents, its all confedential. I know this because i get mine at a clinic. Its completely fine, i guess its just a issue to get to the clinic, but a cab or bus of friend driver could work. Goodluck! :)

you cant get it over the counter...and besides if you go to a clinic or whatever, your info is confidential and your parents wont be informed...seriously

Dear beautiful lady,
I think you need to go to the nearest drugstore and when you feel shy to explain to the staff, please wait until less people and tell her in short but clear.Tell her that you need pill anti-pregnancy,she will understand so you will get what you need.Next time you may use condom or if no condom the man should control until you get multiple orgasm then you can make him ejaculation outside through masturbation or oral.
Have fun

Why don't you want to tell anyone in your family?

Usually to go on the Pill, you'll need to have a pelvic exam first. Tell whoever gives you a ride that that is the reason you need to go to the clinic, you can leave out the fact that you want to go on the Pill.

The Pill is *not* available over the counter; you'll have to discuss with your physician what the benefits of the different pill types are. And you'll just have to try one to see if it works with your system.
