It's not "normal" but can be experienced when starting a new pill as it adjusts your hormones. Takes 3-6 months to settle down and see improvements, but you must not stay on dianette for more than 6 months due to the high risk of blood clots and DVT. She should really try a more modern pill without such high risks such as Marvelon or Yasmin for instance. I'm assuming she has been put on Dianette to help with acne or hair growth? If not, get the doc to give her a better pill, this one really isn't a good choice these days when there are so many safer ones.
The bleeding should settle down. If it's heavy she must go back to doctor immediately else the constant bleeding could make her unwell and unhappy.
