I tried to use tampons when I was 13 but physically could not get it in - it hurt so much and I ended up just saying 'screw it' and using pads till I was 18!!

It doesn't sound liek you have an infection - i wouldn't worry. A lot of girls use pads all through their lives and just make it their personal choice, so don't worry!!!

im the same age as you and i still use pads to! ive tried to put a tampon in several times and usually end up crying. It hurts me too! your not alone :)

ummm... if you're still a virgin you might be too tight down there to use tampons, try using the most slim tapons

that happened with me
you just have to truly relax and go slowly
make sure it goes in all the way, and i would recommend trying it on a heavy flow day b/c it slides easier

I never used a tampon until I was 16. I always thought something was wrong with me because it just hurt and I just really thought they were uncomfortable. I just kept trying until I got the hang of it... it will hurt the first couple times, but it will get better. What kind are you trying? If they are cardboard, try the plastic applicator. In my opinion, they go in easier. Also, tampax I think is the brand makes these skinny fit ones for "light" periods... they are the thinnest I've ever found. They are for light periods though, so you may have to change it more often than a regular sized one, but they might ease you into it. Also... try putting your foot on the toilet seat and your other on the floor and relax but bend over a bit and try to put it in that way.

Hope I helped =]
Good luck!

OKay...this is a little awkward saying this..but
have you ever heard the term "pop the cherry" it means when you have sex for the first time. They say this because there is a thin skin inside your vagina which gets broken during intercourse. The reason why you can still bleed though, is because there is a little hole in the middle. This is why virgins don't use tampons ;]
Okay. this has got to be the awkwardest question I've ever answered XD
Hope I helpped.
Oh, by the way, you're totally normal. Don't worry about not using tampons, though if you really really must, then you're gonna have to break that skin. It's okay, and totally normal, and nothing will come of it- except being able to use tampons. haha.

maybe you need a slimmer tampon

No worries, this used to happen to me and i thought i would never be able to use one, maek sure you're inserting it at the right angle, dont go straight back, you wan't to go towards you're lower back, also the best brand is tampax pearl..very comfortable.good luck :]
