Usually physical signs of puberty start, like you start to grow breasts and hips and grow pubic and underarm hair. You may have an increase in clear vaginal discharge when you're getting closer to getting your period.
As for actually menstruating, I usually get some abdominal cramps (they feel sort of like gas pains) and get a little queasy the day my period starts. Those could be signs you will get yours soon.
I had no big warning sign that my period was going to start a few years ago. It actually happened to me in 5th grade home room. YIKES! Though I have heard of girls getting a dark dry-ish bloody discharge shortly before their menstrual cycle starts. As well, as abdominal cramping. Good luck! Hopefully, what happened to me won't happen to you. lol

slight cramps, more discharge, feeling a little bloated, wear panty liners or some toilet paper in your panties if you think it might happen soon just to be carefull. Mine always come at night though
