Take one issue at a time.

See your doctor about the ovarian cysts and find out if there's anything to worry about. He/she should be able to do an ultrasound to see. If there isn't anything to worry about or anything to do, just take advil and try to live with it.

Similarly about the heavy periods: Does the doctor think they are a problem? Should you worry about endometriosis? Are you still nursing? If so, you could find out whether, when you stop, any kind of birth control pills would lighten your periods. If you aren't nursing, maybe you could start now.

I understand that it's really hard to think about exercise when you have pain in your ovaries, heavy bleeding, joint pain, back pain, etc (not to mention a baby!). On the other hand, if you don't do it, the joint and back pain will get worse. So you want to start really, really easy--find something that's pretty accessible, like walking the baby in a stroller, that you can do when you're not bleeding so much. Or look for a post-partum exercise class that you can take the baby to. Or if you have any childcare help, take a water aerobics class (when you aren't bleeding) that won't put pressure on your joints. If you don't have childcare, see if you can get a video tape of yoga or low-impact stretches that you can do when the baby naps.

In short, deal with each problem separately, and start exercising really gently. Forgive yourself if you skip a day or two, and start again. If you try a big weight loss project in your situation and fail, it's harder to come back. Work instead on gradually eating better, gradually moving a little more each day.

Hang in there.
