yeah. honesty is the best policy

You could wear a tampon. But if not just tell him the truth that you don't feel comfortable.
If tampons hurt you don't risk it then. Just tell him you don't feel like going swimming maybe next week. Maybe instead go see a movie, or even go out to eat. :)

I saw someone mention just go swimming that the blood stops.. This is true BUT you risk the embarrassment if it starts up again. Big no no :s

I'm sure he knows that women have periods, and he should be respectful of that. So just tell him "Sorry my period just started and I don't fell comfortable swimming for a few days. Let's try next week."

You also need to consider an interesting piece of female physiology, when you go swimming, your vulva lips will naturally tighten up to prevent water from going in, so no blood flow will leak out. Or use a tampon. You may feel uncomfortable swimming while on your period, but its really no big deal. Al little exercise will help get it over with quickly too.

ya truth is always is better,

i would tell him. all girls have it so he should understand. you could always just wear a tampon,

I would just go with bringing some tampons along! If your not comfortable using them then i would just tell him you need to do it another time. Good Luck!

Just tell him.

take some pain killers and go for a walk with your boyfriend. don't let your period stop you from having fun. and btw, boys hate to here about that stuff so don't tell him that.

Just tell him you're sick.

Tell him you feel sick and think you are coming down with something. (the feeling sick part is pretty true since you actually kind of do.)

Just say you aren't up for swimming.

Or wear a tampon or moon/diva cup. Try Tampax Pearl Lites, they are very slender and have a plastic applicator. I love them.

And regarding two other answers, your period DOES NOT STOP or slow down while in water. You will bleed into the pool, which is very unsanitary. Those who say it will stop in the pool do not realize that the water in the pool disperses the blood quickly so it only looks like it slows or stops. Trust me, it does not!
